I do admit that he showboated a little too much, and that lead to a few knock downs in his career, but he always picked himself up, smiled, and proceeded to outbox his opponent.

It goes both ways, neither fought anyone like eachother.
Azumah Nelson did the same predictable attacks all night, he fought in a traditional African style, flat footed, come forward brawling aggression. A good win against a strong celebrated fighter but still a tailor made opponent. McGirt boxed Pea, thats why he was a better challenge, dont think Pea ever fought another classical boxer. Pea did not like facing opponents who could box.

        Good post.......

WHITAKER is one of the top five fighters of ALL-TIME! He was damn near unbeatable. The only real loss of his career was against TITO. He was 34 in that fight and still managed to hurt TITO and outbox him at times. He was 33 against a primed OSCAR and managed to oubox him as well. OSCAR still considers WHITAKER to be the greatest defensive fighter he ever fought. Look at what a primed MAY did against an old, flat-footed OSCAR? He won but a prime OSCAR would have defeated him. You could barely touch PEA with a jab or body punch. He is more agile, had a great jab, and believe it or not, he was stronger than MAY. MAY can be hit. He is suceptable to a good jab and he gives yopu his body. PEA had better legs and would physically move away from any punch. MAY is a good but stiffer defender who relies soley on reflexes. We won't even discuss a MANNY fight with TAYLOR or CHAVEZ or WHITAKER or a primed DE LA HOYA. In my final opinion, TAYLOR, WHITAKER, CHAVEZ and OSCAR, beats both MANNY and MAY. MANNY would get K.O.ed or stopped by WHITAKER, CHAVEZ, TAYLOR and OSCAR. He or MAY have never seen anything like either of those fighters. Sorry. You get green nevertheless.

PBF IMO never even got of 1st gear in the De la Hoya fight. PBF didn't fight hard or go all out against De la Hoya.

            I agree.......

I AGREE. People often post with their hearts and not their minds too often on this site. Half of them don't know that TAYLOR was even part of the greatest olympic team ever! He is one of the fastest fighters I have ever seen. He wasn't the smartest but he would have been too much for most of todays lightweights including MANNY/MAY. OSCAR is a true hall of famer ho has conducted himself like a professional at all-times. He unlike most fighters, will give you an honest assessment of a fighter he's faced. A primed OSCAR was AWEsome to watch, especially when he hired FLOYD Sr. The fights against OBA CARR, COLEY, VARGAS, CASTIAJO, SHANE in the rematch, TRINADAD. That's why I say that a primed OSCAR beats MAY/MANNY. We all know why those fights happened. It was because OSCAR was past it and flat-footed and OLD. He gave MAY all he could handle for eight rounds though. LEONARD, HAGLER, WHITAKER, ALI, and HOLYFIELD are my top five fighters. It's good to come across another REAL KNOWLEDGABLE poster. I'm GOD-FR33 from MKE.

Good stuff from Whitaker other than the Judah vs Pac opinion but granted it's his fighter so i dont expect him to say otherwise. Honestly i agree that he completetly makes a complete mockery of both manny and floyd. Not that it's a knock on them, Whitaker just was a ghost in that ring he didnt get hit! Funny that his defense was so great, that his offense is completetly forgotten about but also very effective!

The bold is so true. But that is usually how things go when a person is so great and beyond their peers at one thing all the other good to great things they do takes a hit and doesn't get the recognition that it deserves.
