At that point age isnt an excuse, atleast to me it isnt.

By 23 you should begin fighting good people if you have loads of talent at such a young age. Thats why i always say give Canelo 2 or 3 more years to get his whole technique straighten out.

They are promoting Canelo with this belt, it's that simple. He is ONLY 20 years old and no BS belt can take that fact away. Just like Roy Jones Jr said, "if I was 20 and they were offering me the same thing in this belt, of course I would take it...."

Unlike most understand, Canelo has fought very good opposition for his age and is fighting at a very high level. They are going to treat this kid with white gloves, much like they did Trinidad and Cotto once they knew what they had.

Then with a few fights unders his belt, the big money fight will come. I really don't understand the criticism of this kid, I really don't.

Yes he needs better defense but he's strong, accurate and has the will to fight. IF they handle this kid good, he's going to be a real champ one day soon.

Which is why i consider that belt meaningless. He is no top 154er and is no real champion.

He is simply a VERY good prospect.

So yes, they were handled with white gloves in their careers when they found out what they had. I'm not criticizing, just saying that's how it is in this sport.

Whether you like it or not Canelo IS only 20, he didn't ask for this belt, it was Suleiman and Golden Boy as you said pushing him. So don't come down on the kid or even think he won't be good because we don't know just yet.

                But........

It would be IDIOTIC for Golden Boy to put him in there with a top 5 guy, not right now. Let the kid mature, let him learn the sport more and then he will get that big fight. I agree with you, it's frustrating the way the promoters do what they do but it's always been this way in boxing.

Can't blame or criticize the kid.
As soon as they won a world title they stopped like they're suppose. They were not handled with white gloves after winning the title.

                That is my whole point.

I'm not even criticizing Alvarez, I'm not even taking away what he has done so far. I don't even have a slight idea in who will he fight next.

However, I will start criticizing Alvarez if he doesn't step up now. Because, if he's not ready then don't go for the belt. I don't care how old he is. The age is irrelevant now that he's a world title holder.

Act like a champ, fight like champ, the days of being a prospect and being thought as one is over.

Thank for that civil reply. I do feel bad for Saul now, because if anyone's like me, they will expect a lot out of him if he's reached this stage career-wise. Say what you want about a belt, but traditionally it has marked your arrival on the scene.

I don't believe he is ready for Top 5, but that the logical step to go from this point, that is if, of course, boxing worked like we want it to. You get a belt, you fight Top 5, or at least Top 10 competition from that day on. Doesn't matter how old or unprepared you may be. I don't enlist in the army and then expect the enemy to take it easy on me because I wasn't really ready. Hope that metaphor makes sense.

I guess one thing we can all agree on is that De La Hoya and Sulaiman are greedy bastards looking to profit at Canelo's expense.

My god you people are dumb as I said Barrera got a title when he was 20 and didn't step up until a year later. How did that turn out?

I agree with you but does that make Canelo trash? This is why I post less and and less in this place, it's 99% people trolling.
