Pac never asked for this. Sergio asked for this.
Why would Sergio, who has never fought lower than 154, ask a guy who has never made 154 for a catchweight suited for the other guy?

Roach and Pac wanted Sergio to come down to 147 but he said that the lowest he could go was 152, he would be willing to go that far. They later said that wasn't good enough and Sergio said he would do 148 or 149 if they wanted to and they never responded.

For the first bold print: You have to read earlier in the thread. I responded to someone, Grustler responded to me, and I responded to him. Look back at it; I think you thought that I wrote that myself.

For the second bold print: Roach and Pac never asked for this. Show me your source. I believe they were responding to Sergio asking for a Pac fight, and they said the only way they would fight him is if Sergio goes down that far. But they never asked for the fight themselves.

sergio's upcoming middleweight fight is against a career super-welterweight...

why can't he fight at higher weight class just like what pacquiao did?... now he is whining why floyd and pacman don't want to fight him...

        what a moron...

Oh, yeah...that's what I'm saying just that they said that the only way it would happen is at 147. I know Sergio called out Pac to begin with and they responded with the weight request.

First of all Sergio started his career as a welter-wt so he has fought most of his career at 147 so the BS excuse is just that,BS!!!!! Sergio just fought his 2nd fight @ 160 and already *******s are acting like the man is on his way to 168 which would be way too big for a smallish middle-wt like Sergio. Sergio is a natural Jr-middle-wt so Pac can fight him just like he did Margarito. Don't know who said Pac would win but too bad Pac and his team doesn't have the same faith as whoever said he would win. I say Martinez would smash Manny probably within 5 rounds.

Antonio Margarito was 17 pounds heavier than Manny Pacquiao on fight night. 17 pounds. If he were to fight Sergio Martinez, say, at 154, how many pounds do you think Sergio would outweigh Manny by?

                He says it here
BoxingScene.com was advised by Freddie Roach, trainer of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, that a fight with Sergio Martinez is only possible at the wel

I was asked about what I thought was the most attractive fight out there, and I said Mayweather, and the second Martinez if he can make 147.
Note that he brought up Martinez himself. Roach wasn't asked about Martinez specifically.

Recently he said he said a 150lb catchweight would be doable though. Again, he brought it up himself without being asked about Martinez.

NEWSFLASH: I'm sure Shane will come in weighing around 160-165 on fight night so what's the difference? There shouldn't be any weight BS when you challenge a champion for his title much like Pac was coming in weighing 142-145 when he was fighting @ 130. How dare people compare Pac to the greats when they moved up and fought champions at their best weights. I still can't get over Pac making Cotto come down then fought Clottey at the weight limit in his very next fight. What kinda BS is that?

In the first article, Freddie was asked about the two most attractive fights out there. In response, he gave an appropriate answer: against the other two on the top of the P4P list. As I implied earlier, there is no way he can fight a man of Sergio's size. If one chooses to hold Pac to this, and suggests that Pac is "ducking" Martinez, then I don't know why there are weight divisions anyway. It seems that one who would suggest this dislikes Manny for whatever reason. In other words, I don't agree with that argument.

The same reasoning applies for the second post.

Sergio Martinez is physically bigger than Shane Mosley. Shane can still make 147, to which he agreed to for the Pac fight, and Sergio can't make that weight. Thus, Sergio is physically bigger. That's at least 5-7 pounds, for Maravilla's weight, added to your 160-165 range for Shane. Mind you, Pac is at 145 on fight night.
