    I dont know

I think retiring might have been the problem considering you cant fight when retired

Arum's severed relationship with Floyd has always been been the culprit ! With both wanting the upper hand someones gotta give for us to get Pac/Floyd !!!

Floyd "retired" in Dec 07 after beating Hatton.

He was supposed to come back in September to rematch Oscar but he "retired" again when he found out that Oscar wasn't giving him a 50/50 split....ironic isnt it?

Mayweather wasn't retired in Dec.'07-Jan.'08 when Cotto signed on to fight Alfonso Gomez, instead of even attempting negotiations with Mayweather.

Nor was he retired in late '05 when he requested that Cotto fill in a date that was originally set for Judah that he had lined up with HBO, which Cotto declined (and was eventually filled by Sharba Mitchell).

Mayweather only had one official retirement, that was May/June '08.

Mayweather was also "retired" when the Hatton fight was negotiated. That's how much that means.

You don't remember the interview immediately after the Hatton fight or the interviews in the media after the Hatton fight?

I thought Mayweather made it VERY clear, that Cotto needed to build his fan base if he expected a fight.

It's kind of hard to negotiate with someone that already said they wouldn't fight you because you lack a fan base.

Obviously they mean nothing. How can he have an "official retirement" when they're all fake? He "retired" after Hatton and specifically said he wasn't interested in fighting Cotto in the post fight interview with Merchant

Then there's the infamous "he lives in Puerto Rico" interview he did before his proposed rematch with Oscar/

It's sure does make negotiation easier.
