Cmon man.. Thomas Hearns was gifted vacant belts at 160 and 168 in the space of a year.. against opponents who never won a single belt in their entire careers!.. Everyone ****ing celebrated this guy as the sports first five-division champ. Now Pac wins a vacant belt and it doesn't count? Gimme a break.

if you consider WBC as an illegitimate sanctioning body, then pacquiao's 8th title is illegitimate as well... fight took place within the superWW limit... title is vacant... sanctioning fees were paid... its legit...

how about martinez' 1st major title? he is just the interim champ but the major title was left vacant, upgrading martinez' interim superWW title to a major world title... that's worst as martinez never fought for that major title, it was handed down to his ass...

No, the achievement is beating Margarito. The belt is worthless because neither fighter had any claim to it before the fight and 150lbs isn't the limit.

The diamond belt is a trophy more so than a belt. There is no rankings for the diamond belt, there is no mandatory for the diamond, he is not considered an 8 division belt holder cuz' of the diamond. The belt he holds at WW is not the diamond belt, it is the WBO belt.

Now if the argument is that the WBO is just as meaningless as well then so be it. But, to mention a trophy is pretty weak. Since nobody counts that as a legitimate title due to the fact that it is a trophy.

And, no I personally don't consider him an 8 division title holder. Everybody else is putting up examples on other fighters who won vacant belt. However, this is different since neither Pac nor Marg did anything of note at 154 to be fighting for a vacant belt.

I mean you can throw in Hearns name, Martinez name, and all these other names but either they, or the opponent, or both put in work in the division to be fighting for the vacant belt. Neither Pac nor Marg put in any kind of work to fight for the vacant strap and worse it was at a catch-weight. Is just bogus.
