FoR THOSE that don't know how to do math & site these losses as legit..that's 20% where Lewis & Byrd luckily outboxed him & the 3 rds they did win were the last 3rds before the bout was stopped due to severe injuries & NOTHING ELSE.. BOTH fighters were being outboxed..outslugged..outthrown..outlanded for the first 12 rds combined based on all the officials scorecards...where i come from that's 120-108...& a unanimous decision.

Think about that for a second before YOU say he lost to the 2 best fighters he ever fought. IF THEY WERE BETTER THAN HIM WOULDN'T THEY HAVE WON 1 RD BETWEEN THEM FOR THE FIRST 12 RDS THEY COLLECTIVELY FOUGHT HIM WHEN HE WAS RELATIVELY (PHYSICALLY) HEALTHY? Did Vitali Not CLOSE the show in style in both instances? Hell to the yes.. but make NO MISTAKE he was the better boxer in both bouts by miles & would easily have beaten both in a LEGIT manner unlike the way they beat him & don't think those 2 fighters don't know this. They were in the ring with him. They might talk all tough about how they beat him but there's a reason both did not face him again!
Vitali didnt want to rematch Byrd because he knew he couldnt hit him...Vitali landed only 26% of his punches while Byrd landed 44%. Anyone who watched that fight saw that Byrd was in control from the very beginning, despite being down on cards.. Final punch stats were Vitali landing 132 and Byrd landing 124; a difference of only 8 punches. Vitali QUIT because he didnt want to be kod by a supermiddleweight not because of "injury."

Against Lennox, Vitali looked like a used tampon and its ridiculous to even bring up scorecards. Heavyweight boxing is about inflicting damage on your opponent not filling out a score sheet.

    • hes not american or brown so good luck with that - that's the recipe to "mass appeal" because the vocal north american audience and the numerical majority third world audience are both promoting you as "theirs", and vitali won't ever be popular enough to make most lists

if you mean statistically/factually then of course, he's one of the best ever

      • this is truly a sad day for boxing. The current HW champ doesn't get more then 30 % of the votes and most of them are tunney alts.

This is just ****ing pathetic. Really pathetic

        • let me see...

          Joe Louis
          Muhammad Ali
          Lennox Lewis
          Sonny Liston
          Rocky Marciano
          Evander Holyfield
          Mike Tyson
          Larry Holmes
          George Foreman
          Joe Frazier
          Ezzard Charles

off the top i say No. But Vitali is a very good fighter.

At least Vitaly didn't duck Byrd like Lennox did. Lennox dumped his belt in the trash rather than face the slick Byrd because he knew he would loose.

good that at least you agree byrd beat vitali. No need for lewis to have fought byrd btw. He was at the end of his carreer and only needed a couple of big money fights.

Yet he ducked the Vitaly rematch that he promised even though he could have made at least $20 million? LOL... Lewis ducked Byrd and Vitaly.

Lewis threw 2 belts away by the time he fought Vitali....don't forget he thought he was above Ruiz as well.. a fighter Evander fought 3 times & Holy also fought Byrd.

                  • Vitali is a good fighter but nowhere near good enough to get in a top ten.

first of all it was 57 rds after he beat Herbie Hide to win The Herbie Hide....big difference than 74 rds it took Mike. Secondly Mike might be the youngest but VitaLI is the one with the least amount of heavyweight experience once he won a title. As for first rd Knockouts... that's great & all. Vitali did knockout his first 27 opponents on 2.5 rds average. Let me know how many rds Tyson had fought after 27 fights.

I'm sure it;'s much more than 69 & while you're at it how many have taken Tyson the distance in his career? What was his knockout ratio? First rd knockout s might be good for a few highlights but when you can't carry it over once the comp gets better..just fluff..... ask Shannon Briggs WHERE that got him..certainly Vitali wasn't impressed & beat the living crap of the heavy with the most first rd knockouts.

I'll take a mid rd KO every day of the week on a consistent basis over a few ist rd knockouts & distance fights that went along with it. The end results state that Vitali has the highest & mosty probaBLE CHANCE to get a stoppage over you thaN anyone else in heavyweight history & don't worry about the rds he puts in before the stoppage occurs..it's usually a shutout on the scorecards & Vitali NEVER has to come from behind in a fight to snatch victory from defeat because HE'S ALWAYS ahead in his fights. He's ONLY had to resort to judges scorecards 3 times in his career & when he has.... it's been a complete shutout winning 35 out of 36 rds. Anyway you slice it...knockouts or sweet science domination>>> Vitali is #1 of alltime in the heavyweight division@
