  • This is silly. A catchweight isn't necessary. Just make it a 147 limit fight (and maybe a rehydration clause like Bob said, but even that's not necessary IMO). Marquez comes in at 138-140 and rehydrates to 145 like he did against Katsidis. Pac comes in at 144-145 and rehydrates to 148-149 as usual. A whopping 3-4 lb difference in the ring. Plus Marquez will retain some speed and mobility and he has a legit shot at a WW belt.

Make that **** happen or move on to the next option

The only fighter Floyd has ever ducked is Margarito. Other than that, no one else. He's called out Cotto, Mosley, DLH, Hamed, Tszyu, and many other fighters when Floyd was in his prime. When he wasn't a huge star, no one gave him a chance. No one. Now when Mosley is old and looking for a paycheck that's when he calls Mayweather. It wasn't Mayweather, he hasn't been ducking anyone except for Margarito. Cotto never came with an offer. So stop this nonsense.
i watched that video, and all that I can think is how the f u c k does Larry Merchant look the same age here as he did after marque katsidis??? I think Larry merchant is a vampire!

LOL
This is straight from Arum's mouth....

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

          Arum said
Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Manny has ducked more than any top P4P fighter. Manny didn't
duck 1 fighter but rather a whole boxing style.

          • JMM has to take arum's offer. I think he will. It will still be the best or second best offer of a his lifetime. And his last big payday.

            • Arum never wanted the fight

**** is as plain as day.......

"The pressure is on Pacquiao," he said. "They keep moving the goal post like they did with the $10 million weight penalty [if either fighter is over the contract maximum 147 pounds], which we agreed to. They didn't think we would accept that. When we did, they had to find something else to make into a problem. So now they're saying it's up to the commission instead of wanting to negotiate the drug testing with us. I don't want to hear that if the fight breaks up it was because of us. When they came to us with a $10 million weight penalty, they didn't expect us to say yes. They thought we'd say no. So when we said yes, they had to come up with something else. Now we're off USADA, and they are going to come and say only urine testing if that's what the commission says. It's really frustrating.

"We are making compromises. It's a two-way street. If they back off again, I will shut off my phone and spend the rest of the Christmas and New Year's time with my family, and good luck to all of these fools."

While Arum is making plans for an alternative fight for Pacquiao against former junior welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi -- who has also accused Pacquiao of using PEDs -- if the Mayweather fight falls apart, Schaefer said he hasn't discussed an alternative with Mayweather.

"We haven't discussed anybody else because the fight we want to bring to the fight fans is the one with Pacquiao," he said. "The focus is on getting Mayweather-Pacquiao done while Bob is making calls everywhere on the Malignaggi fight. That shows his focus is not on Mayweather.

"How ridiculous is that that Pacquiao would go and fight the guy who makes accusations that he uses performance-enhancing drugs instead of Mayweather [Jr.], who didn't make those accusations? Something is not right. I don't know how to explain it other than maybe Pacquiao doesn't want the Mayweather fight."

I don't see how Mayweather ducked Margarito. When he hit the welterweight division, Margarito was rebuilding from a loss to Daniel Santos. He fought Judah, then the universally recognized champ in Baldomir. I still don't see how you can duck a challenger by fighting the champion. And when he came back, he fought the winner of Mosley-Margarito. Had Margarito not lost so many times, Mayweatehr he would have gotten his fight with Mayweather.

yep, jmm is in no position to dictate terms. he has to take whatever scraps is thrown at him and beg for more.

                  • So Pac is a coward for not fighting someone who weighed 20 pounds more than he did in their last fights. (Sergio-168, Pacquiao-148) But JMM is getting screwed by having to fight someone who weighed 3 pounds more? (Marquez-145, Pacquiao-148)

No doubt Arum is full of crap saying Pac can't make 140, but a lot of people on here are just as full of it. At least try to be objective.

Why is it on Mayweather to fight guys when its convenient for them? I mean, he fought the recognized champ in Baldomir instad of Maragrito who was rebuilding from loses. He fought bigger events in de la Hoya and Hatton than Cotto. What's wrong with that?
