I want to confirm something. Is it Pac who asked for the catchweight or Margarito? Because other than the belt, I don't see why Pac should need to go up in weight. While Margarito's camp is openly talking about him having to shed 40 pounds during training and looking drained for the Mosley fight. I read Pac's team asked lower than 150 but eventually settled with it. How sure are people here saying that Pac's team asked the catchweight? 100%? 50%? No clue at all? I'm just wondering because the moment this catchweight fight was signed everybody seemed so sure Pac's team asked for it.

For one thing Leonard was a bonafide legend not a wanna be. Ray fought the top guys when they were at the top not coming off beat downs. So let's not even mention Manny's name in the same paragraph. Donny Lalonde was a smallish Lt-heavy so making 168 wasn't a problem for him, Ray wasn't making him come down to weaken him like Manny did Cotto. It wasn't enough that Cotto was wounded Manny wanted to handicap him and Cotto allowed him to. Donny did win the Lt-Heavy-wt title legitimately but here you have Manny fighting for a title that neither he nor Cheato deserves so cut the BS comparisons.

Not at all. I'm a true boxing fan, not a Manny f*g. Is anything I said untrue? Of course it's not. This will be Manny's 6th fighter in a row coming off a huge lost. That aint no coincidence. Only to a Manny f*g. I watched Hagler/Hearns ringside as a kid. How dare you fake ass, fly-by-night *******s compare this clown to the greats. PBF just smashed down the 2 fighters Manny ran from and his **** fans still make excuses for him. GTFOHWTBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!Go find a stiff that doesn't know boxing cause I'm not the one.

Only a fake ass, **** boxing fan wouldn't know the 2. Now let's see:
41-0 vs. 51-3-2 including 2 ko losses. Now tell me fanboy which would you rather be?

The problem is, Pac vs Margarito/Clottey/Cotto/Hatton/Hoya/Diaz isn't Hagler vs Herns... Hagler vs Hearns was "the best" fighting "the best". Hearns came into the fight only losing once 4 years prior and that was to the great "Sugar" Ray Lenard. Hagler came into the ring not losing for nearly 9 years.
The fighters Pac has been put in front of is a different story. Its a known fact that if a fighter is "too good" they will avoid the fight. (point validated).
Maybe if Pac would have fought "too good" Mosley at 141-147 we could say he was fighting the best. (If Mosley is "too good", is Mayweather too great?)
Maybe if Pac would fight Martinez (who's the same size as Margarito) or Pwill for the "Catched Jr MW title" we could say he's fighting the best.
You cant validate Pac fighting Margarito. This fight has nothing to do with the best fighting the best which is what Hagler and Hearns was and which is what we expect from Mayweather at all times. I guess the standards for Pac are a little lower?

We all grew up watching Hoya or at least I did. We know Hoya wasn't (as Floyd Haters like to say) even prime for the Mayweather fight even though I thought the Mayorga fight was a GREAT win for Hoya even after the "TKO" to Hop. The question is, if Hoya was so shot vs Mayweather (because Mayweather "won") what would that make Hoya vs Pac after struggling with weight he hadn't been at in 6 years and barley beating a mediocre fighter in Forbes?
To say Pac's win over Hoya was anything but an entertainment joke is just like saying Calzaghe fought and beat a PRIME 1994 Roy Jones Jr.. lol
Pac gets outboxed and embarrassed vs the "bigger" Hoya that fought Mosley or even Trindad (and Hoya lost both them fights). I like Pac but for roach to compare his "catchweight" title fights to Hagler hearns is far from reaching... lol. Like I said you cant validate this fight or any of his "catchweight" fights let alone compare them to the best fighting the best like Hagler Hearns. lol
