If Joe would've fought Jones and Hopkins in their prime, he'd have a better argument.
Not only this, Joe clearly ducked Froch and retired rather than face him which makes it even worse.
In summary, Froch shits all over Calzaghe.
unfortunately though, Froch doesn't do all that well when he is fighting the best
as for Joe ducking Froch, he had bigger fish to fry
Joe would have embarrassed Froch sillyLast edited by Tiozzo; 11-01-2010, 08:36 AM.

2, who cares? Kessler is just one common opponent, and it might not mean a great deal by the time Froch is through (if he keeps adding competetive performances against top level names).
Eubank
Reid
Sheika
Brewer
Mitchell
Lacy
Bika
Kessler
Hopkins
Pascal
Taylor
Dirrell
Kessler
Abraham
Beating the prime Pascal is at least equal in worth to beating a faded Eubank.
Knocking out Taylor in Taylor's backyard >>> stopping Sheika.
While not exactly equivalent, when you put aside the misleading prestige differential, I think it's fair to say taking a close, controversial decision against a young Dirrell in a frustrating fight is worth as much as taking a close, controversial decision against an old Hopkins in a frustrating fight.
Dropping a decision in a close fight in Kessler's backyard is certainly at least equal in worth to getting a decision in a close fight with Robin Reid.
Beating Abraham would >>> pounding on Jeff Lacy, IMO.
Then there'd be the Super Six semi and possibly final.
Maybe Froch doesn't win the tournament, but there are certainly opportunities beyond it.
Maybe a fight with Bute.
Or, if Pascal is still the man at 175lb, maybe Froch moves up to rematch the current light-heavy champ.
Or, if Froch *did* somehow win the Super Six, unifying with Bute then the fight with Pascal (or whoever the light-heavy champ is at that time).
The point is that Froch is on the way, if not there yet. He has to keep blazing his trail, but the potential is certainly there to surpass Calzaghe.

I can't stand Froch, i hate his style and don't rate him at all. I felt he lost to Dirrell and was getting soundly beaten by Taylor until the KO.
But the facts are he has wins over Dirrell, Taylor, Pascal, that alone is better than Calzaghes entire resume.
If he beats Abraham (which i doubt) that win alone will be better than Calzaghes entire resume.
I think Calzaghe would beat Froch though if they fought. I can't stand either fighter, and i'm british lol
