BTW:Taylor IMO fought Pav to a draw and had a win under his belt and was very confident going into the Froch fight..He was still a dangerous fighter unlike when he fought AA..
Lacy fought Reid and Sheika, both are better than anyone Dirrell fought before Froch. If you're saying Dirrell was proven then so was Lacy. Calzaghe beat an undefeated Kessler easily...

If you're going to play the 'Taylor was confident coming into Froch' card, I can do the same thing with B Hop. He was coming off dominant wins over Tarver and Winky Wright, he looked good coming into the Calzaghe fight. RJJ had also just beat Trinidad. Taylor was shot to **** and you know it.

lacy proved he was a decent fighter but dirrell has proven he's a top fighter. lacy never did that.

taylor was not shot. the second pavlik fight was super close and could have gone either way and he easily beat the great jeff lacy.

OK, tell me what Dirrell did before the Froch fight that proved he was a top fighter? He fought NO-ONE.

Taylor was in worse shape than BHop coming into the Calzaghe fight. You can't have it both ways saying BHop was out of prime but Taylor wasn't.

I don't know bout that,it seems like they were on the same level of the fighters Dirrell fought..But Dirrell has shown what kind of fighter he is which is a top 5 fighter in his div Lacy never showed that..Joey beat a prime Kessler(don't know about easy)I said that already...

B-Hop and Jones were not prime..Taylor looked good against Pav Jones did not look like anything vs Tito cause Tito is was so shot..The Taylor win was a good one for Froch way better in terms of where the fighter was in his career...Jones was there for a check and barely trained..

I give Joey full credit for Kessler and B-Hop,but Lacy and Jones not so much..

Calzaghe schooled a prime unbeaten double world champion Kessler. He set the blueprint how to beat him. Ward followed the same blueprint, speed movement and accuracy.

Froch lost to a one eyed, (arguably because of his long standing injuries) past prime, already twice defeated Kessler. He was very lucky against Taylor, cos he had lost every round of that fight.

I'm not saying Froch is a bad fighter. In fact I like watching his fights. He's a throwback, a true warrior. But he doesn't have anywhere near the same skill set as Calzaghe... he still needs a couple more impressive wins to beat Calzaghe's resume.

To be fair, Froch's recent opposition is probably better than anyone in boxing

At the time of the fights, Lacy was more proven than Dirrell. It's easy to look back in hindsight and say it was a **** win for Calzaghe but at the time that was a big fight. You call Calzaghe a duck but fact is, he was the only top guy willing to fight Lacy at the time.
