Casual fans wont be talking about Pac in 20 years will they, so that's a pointless statement.

when pac fought hatton, there was no catchweight...
      so whats your point?
all im saying is, theres no difference in pacs catchweight fights compared to hatton/marquez vs floyd jr...if anything, the disadvantage were greater to marquez and hatton more than it did for cotto and soon to be margarito

He has has a total of two catch-weight fights, neither Cotto or Margarito were/are going to be drained and both titles in these two fights mean nothing.

Sorry, but Pac is the fighter of his generation. Deal with it.

your right about the margarito fight, its only pacs second catchweight fight...the delahoya was a circus, kinda like a celebrity type death match...only dumm.ies cannot comprehand that...

as for the titles not meaning anything...pac winning the belt from cotto does have some kind of significance because cotto beat mosley. the belt for the jr middleweight, that i tend not to really put alot of stock into that fight, only because i dont think margarito earned this matchup, although i do believe pac has earned it by default...if one of the other belt holders in the jr middleweight was challenging pac for the belt, then it wouldve made sense to me.

Pac fought Hatton at 140, why would there be a catchweight.

My point is, when you're fighting for titles at higher weight classes, you move up to THEIR weight. No catchweights.

it kinda of does IMO it puts an asterisk next to his claim to fame (8 belts in 8 division) and it really makes what he did post Diaz fight less impressive

well, being that it was pacs first official welterweight fight against cotto, i can understand a catchweight of one pound less for cotto...besides, its not like cotto has weighed 147 for all of his welterweight fights...if you research his fights, all of them have been at the 146 mark.

its not like pac is the only boxer to fight at a catchweight for a belt...look at martinez/williams...thats gonna be at a catchweight...theres other catchweight fights going on in upcoming fights...so why make a big deal of out pacs catchweight fights...other than the circus side show against delahoya, its not like pac is asking his opponant to drop one full weight division to fight him...he is only asking a pound or two, to make it an even fight as possible...basically skip a meal to make weight then splurged away til fight nite...in reality, cotto basically went into the fight against pac at his normal fighting weight...and margarito will do the same, coming in at 160+ on fight nite

If Cotto normally comes in at 146 then why ask for the catchweight in the first place? Pointless.

I'm not making a big deal of it, but the OP asked the question, I answered it. I think the catchweight thing does hamper his legacy and the whole '8 weight class world champion' thing.

                    I'm off to bed, peace.

                      Pac's non-catchweight big fights:
                      Barrera
Morales (it was clear Morales couldn't make 130 however, and Pac made drop down. Same idea as a catchweight)
                      Marquez
De La Hoya (At age 36 he damn sure shouldn't have been fighting at 145 that's for sure. Meeting Pac in the middle is the same idea as a catchweight [though not Pac's fault, but still])
                      Hatton.
                      Pac's big catchweight fights.
Cotto (Won a record breaking belt from Cotto at a catchweight)
Margarito (Winning another record breaking belt at a catchweight)

De La hoya was his shining moment, though at no fault of his own, it is a tainted victory.
Cotto was his ATG break out fight, but it was at a catchweight and was thus a tainted victory
Margarito is just one of his big fights, but it's at a catchweight, for a vacant belt, and Margarito was by no means the best opponent and will be a tainted victory.

But u still got Hatton, Barrera, Morales, and Marquez. U be the judge.
