But why do it and give people an excuse after the fight? Especially if your going to fight Clottey at full 147 in your next fight. Just didn't and still doesnt make sense to me.
Thanks for simplifying for these guys,I've never understood that myself!!

That only makes sense if he fought Clottey at 147 first then fought Cotto at 145 next.
Do you honestly think Pac would be fighting Clottey at 147 if he didn't beat Cotto at 145? would he still fight Margarito at 151 if he didn't beat Clottey at 147?

I want to agree with you that fighting Cotto at 147 wouldn't have made a difference, but that'll make me a "*******" instead of a pac fan around here.

I'm sorry,I usually don't have any problem with U,but this just further more convinces me of the problem with boxing today!!U speak of his biased, when his posts are more factual than urs!!Why is it Floyd is supposed to get constantly criticized but when someone points out the flaws in Pacman's welterweight run,U guys get offended & wanna dish out red karma?? It works both ways, the same way Pacfans criticize Floyd,so the same can Pacman be criticized dude!!

If you are refering to me which i assume you are as its a reply to my post. Where did i once say Pacqiauo is scared to fight Cotto at 147? I clearly said i dont believe the 2 pounds made a difference, i believe Pacqiauo beats Cotto 10 times out of 10 at 147.

I'm merely saying if Pacqiauo can fight Clottey at 147, why not fight Cotto at 147? This will stop any discrediting of the win, or at least some. Had he fought them both at the same weight i would understand a little more.

Again, if that last post is aimed at me you clearly havn't been reading my posts, Pacqiauo has an incredible resume, clearly. It is impossible to claim he hasn't, just because i dont say he never cherry picks doesnt mean i give him no credit.

My point is Manny does cherry pick from time to time, pretty much everyone picks and chooses expecially when there at the top.

But in fairness, Manny's resume is very impressive.
I think the term "cherry picking" is exagerated now n days. Both Cotto and Shane were elite WW's and you could make a case for one being better than the other.

Let's flip this for a second and say Sergio Martinez fought Floyd instead of Manny at 154. Would you consider that a cherry pick? Not really because both are elite fighters and you really can't go wrong with either choice as an opponent selection.

Cherry picking is chosing if Manny chose someone like Jose Luis Castillo over a Floyd or Shane Mosley (by choice and not as a last option)

Wheres the facts in his post. This dud is a constant hater on this site and he doesn't give pac any credit. No fighter is beyond criticsm but what pac is doing goes way beyond what floyd has been doing for the last couple of years. Floyd has retired and has never looked to face the best and makes excuses and fights once a year if your lucky. Pac has come fought the best featherweights to fight the best welterweighs. We all know who is carrying boxing at the moment and giving the sport a positive look through the world not Floyd with his drugs, excuses, and beating crap.

To be fair if Manny would have dominated Clottey first...then there wouldn't be a 145lb catchweight. The only reason there was a catchweight was due to know one knowing how Manny would fair against a legit WW. Hell when he was on the ropes against Cotto, Manny's corner went crazy because they thought Cotto would destroy him. Once Manny survived that and went on to dominate Miguel.....everyone realized that he can in fact compete at WW.
