It's a natural chain of events and while the names change, the game doesn't. The last pound for pound king worked his way up to that title and then milked it. Why is it a surprise when the current pound for pound king does the same? To his credit, Manny Pacquiao fought Miguel Cotto two fights ago and that was one hell of a matchup and a brilliant performance. 2010, however, has been quite disappointing. The Clottey and Margarito bouts reek but what can you do? Nothing...but take him to task for it in hopes it's not Chavez Jr or Cotto next.
That's about the only thing I can find fault in when it comes to Manny. He is an incredible ambassador of the sport. He fights like a warrior every time because that is exactly what he is. And his resume trumps nearly every active fighter today. But to whom much is given, much is required. Like Floyd before him, the time is approaching where Manny has to either **** or get off the pot. His legacy is secure anyway and the game must go on.
