Floyd was criticised for fighting Zab instead of Baldomir. The Zab deal was pretty much already done before Zab lost to Tata.

There was just as much noise for Floyd to fight Tata as their was for him to fight Margarito. I don't think he had any desire to fight Margarito and honestly he didn't really want Baldomir IMO either. He was ofered $8,000,000 from Bob Arum for Margarito. They asked Shaw to beat it for Baldomir....he offered $8,000,001. It was a no brainer. Fight the #1 ranked guy for the WBC or make Bob Arum money (they had recently split) by fighting Margarito???
