Judging by todays standards Floyd's win over Baldomir is totally legit.

pac agreed to all his terms. that has been established. do you have any real reasons why he didn't fight pac? vacation and beating women aren't viable reasons so think hard.
you keep going on and on about the public and media. floyd doesn't fight for them he's said it a million times! otherwise he would have fought cotto and pac instead of guys like baldomir and marquez. he fights for easy money without the risk of losing.
again your timeline is wrong!!!!!!
that has been established for rd 2 of negotiations. Pac didn't agree to his terms in Jan......so again who was more viable than Shane after the fight fell through in JANUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???
To answer your question as why the fight didn't happen in rd two of negotiations.....it's actually very simple.....Floyd didn't want it to. That could be for various reasons.
- he feels a mosley win does enough for his legacy and he doesn't need to risk fighting Pac.
- tax implications
- lack of motivation
- possibility of not having Roger in the corner
- not needing the payday
likely a combo of all of these........Comment
-
my timeline isnt wrong reread my post. pac agreed to all his demands in the 2nd round and mayweather refused to fight him. obviously this means floyd was bluffing the whole time and never would have fought him. he was simply making up demands to get out of the fight.again your timeline is wrong!!!!!!

if you seriously think he was ever gonna fight pac that's a head scratcher. when will you wake up and smell the damn coffee. this guy does not want to fight tough opponents. he's been doing the same thing for years and years and you keep defending him with such rubbish.Comment

we are talking about SSM as a legit opponent.......so yes your timeline is wrong.
the part in bold is presumptious. SSM was not much less of a risk than Manny. If Manny had agreed in Jan i believe the fight would have happened. Now that Floyd has his payday and a victory over Shane i agree that the fight is less likey to occur.
So again....who was recognised as a tougher and legitimate opponent over SSM when the negotiations in Jan failed??? The answer is no one. He fought the fighter the public and the media demanded him to second to Pac.
And again you really are ******. No one fights Margarito, Williams etc over ODLH and Hatton.
What about Pac??? Why fight Morales instead of Raheem.....a bigger threat. Why decline a fight with Guzman...a bigger threat. Why take on Diaz at 135 when there was bigger threats. Why take on Clottey??? Why take on ODLH?????
You are too ****** to see the practicality and commercial nature of what drives decisions in boxing.
You like everyone else on here demand Floyd takes on the bigger threats.......but don't demand the same from guys like Pac or other fighters....and even when he does take on the threat, it is illegitimised afterwards.Last edited by check hook; 10-10-2010, 04:24 AM.Comment

You are just another poster who holds Mayweather to a higher standard than his peers. You are certainly holing him to a much higher standard than you do Pacquaio.Comment

oof! how can you possibly believe that. so much evidence against that. floyd did the very same exact thing to cotto. kept fighting unworthy challengers and delaying the fight with fake retirements. it was always some ****** reason after another. now he does the same thing against pac. all he cares about is making easy paydays. he does not want to fight tough opponents why can't you understand this.we are talking about SSM as a legit opponent.......so yes your timeline is wrong.

i know pac doesn't fight every dangerous opponent out there but he will if the fight is big enough. pac tried to make a floyd fight so i don't think he really avoided guzman or raheem. i'm sure he would have fought them if those guys were big stars and pound for pound fighters like floyd is but they weren't. on the opposite end floyd won't fight pac or cotto when they are huge stars and pound for pound fighters. that is the difference.
i don't even know why you are talking about who was a legit opponent after pac. it don't matter who is after pac. pac is the fight everyone wants to see. no one gives 2 shi-ts about a mosley fight but the ******s who bought it. how much evidence do you really need to show you that mayweather does not ever want to fight pac? his own dad thinks it's a bad idea and told him not to fight him. the evidence is so overwhelming but you always come up with some asinine reason about taxes or ppv buys or something so ridiculous that it's hard to take seriously.Last edited by daggum; 10-10-2010, 04:40 AM.Comment

You have to understand that when you are a great fighter then people would hold you to a different standard, They would hate you because you tell everyone how great you are etc.
So Mayweather been held to a higher standard to everyone else is nothing new and has alway been that way.Comment

if floyd asked for 100% of the purse or no fight against pac/cotto/margarito, these guys would find a way to justify it.
and they keep bringing up the mosley fight.. where it took a damn earthquake for floyd to take, not to mention the public pressure he was getting to fight a 72 year old man when the pac negotiation fell apart. he had no fucking choice. his back was against the wall. imagine the media outrage if he fights matthew hatton.
even so, fighting mosley was a step in the right direction for floyd, where i thought he might actually start fighting real ww, but then he went on another "fake retirement" after it.Comment

lets take pac vs. may's ww career...
the fact it can be argued that pac has a better ww career than floyd shows how lacking floyd's competition is at this weight class. this is a guy who is a welterweight since 05 vs. a guy who was fighting at 135 a couple of years ago.
there is no damn double standard when it comes to floyd as you guys always seem to spurt out in these arguments.
the guy *****ed out on competition at his weight, plain and simple.Comment
