The heavyweight division is in such sad shape that a guy with 14 fights, who has never been rated in the top 10 can get a title shot. Its disgusting. If this fight happens it should be a non title fight as it is a complete and utter mismatch. Wlad doesn't deserve credit for a defense against such an inexperienced opponent. That's real talk, not hate.
Larry Holmes fought Marvis Frazier after Frazier had only 10 fights.

That was preceded by him fighting Tim Witherspoon who had 15 wins and Leon Spinks who had 10 wins.

Holmes followed the Frazier win with victories over a 14-1 James Smith, a 14-0 David Bey and a 16-0 Carl Williams... all in consecutive fights.

His title reign also included a win over 13-0 Ossie Ocasio.

Yet if Klitchko fights a guy with 14 career fights it's disgraceful?

    Give me a ****in break.

I guess if Wlad wants to make people like you happy he will just sit on his ass for 8 months instead of fighting.

Where did I say ANY of those fights were ok? Stop getting your panties all bunched up. It isn't my fault the division is at an all time low.

Well, Sam Sexton was ranked #14 by BoxRec and #13 by the WBO when he fought Chisora.

Sexton has two wins over Martin Rogan, who has a win over Audley Harrison.

Now don't get me wrong, I agree Chisora isn't as established as he should be for a world title shot. But there are few other options.

For example, Wlad would prefer to fight Povetkin, Haye or Adamek, who are all better qualified for shot at him. But, they don't want to fight him, at least not now.

And others are either injured (Valuev, Arreola) or coming off injuries (Boytsov). Some don't want the fight (Tua). Others have already lost to Wlad (Chagaev, Thompson, Chambers).

Chisora is probably the best of who is available. I approve of this fight for that reason. There is simply no other decent opponent out there, except for Dimitrenko. I don't know what has been happening in Wlad's negotiations with Dimitrenko.

There are others I would not find acceptable. Rossy might be okay only as a last resort. But if it came to either fighting Welliver (clubfighter) or Mormeck (too small and past his prime), I would prefer Wlad wait for Adamek next year.

Good post. This will be a mismatch in the ring as much as it is on paper and that is why I think it should be a non title fight. I agree though there are few other options for the reasons you've named. That doesn't mean Wlad should get credit for a defense against a guy who hasn't even earned a top 10 ranking let alone a title shot though. This should be viewed as a stay busy fight only in my opinion.

I'll be happy to take all bets that this will be a one sided beatdown that is over within 5 rounds if anyone wants.

If Larry Holmes defended his title 6 or 7 times against guys with 16 or less wins and Klitschko only did it once then obviously it isn't at an all time low right now.

Rofl Chisora the only one with the balls to fight Wlad so lets make it that even if he pulls a stunning upset he doesnt get the titles

Leon Spinks had 3 title shots, 4 losses, 2 draws before he reached the amount of wins Chisora has. But who cares... IT WAS THE GOLDEN AGE OF HEAVYWEIGHTS!

Its a joke, I mean an absolute joke. No one cares that Joe Louis fought a guy named Johnny Paycheck for the title.

No one cared that Ezzard Charles fought a 27 loss, knocked out 17 times Lee Oma.

Surely Ali was much better when he gave a title shot to evangelista...who was 14-1-1 and started fighting once every 9 months when he reached Wlad's age? Or how about 17-4-2 Jimmy Young...he was much more qualified...Sure 2 of his previous 3 opponents had losing records...but who cares...he gave Ali a hard fight and really beat him and a rematch was dodged etc....but it was the golden age people. Dont you know what that means? Dont question it, it was the golden age,e verything was better...

i mean, i don't think any one is really even remotely excited about this fight. it is a fight that should not be taking place. however, the blame aint on wlad. hes doing what hes got to do - beating the best that are available and the best that will fight him. its sad that adamek, haye, and povetkin won't fight. however, at least povetkin says he isn't ready. haye on the other hand is ducking in an even more cowardice manner, fighting a far-from-deserving challenger, and STILL talking **** towards the klitschkos. biggest joke in boxing. maybe in this fight chisora will establish himself with a good performance at least - its doubtful though. i wish arreolas career wasn't falling apart. id actually love to see that fight - hes just in a bad rut right now though. he will find his way out. gotta give him props for fighting adamek and vitali basically back to back - dude ain't scared.
