i don't think most people are rewarding wladimir for this fight. i mean - its a smart move to knock off hayes next opponent (which won't get haye in the ring, it will just further expose him), so i mean props to him for going after haye SO hard that hes willing to do something like that.

however, wlad won't really get much props from me legacy wise when he beats chisora. it will just be a period when no one good wanted a beat down. am i saying wlad is enhancing his legacy by fighting chisora? no. but am i saying that wlad should be frowned upon for taking this fight? considering the circumstances (aka people ducking) - i think it would be absurd to talk **** on him for fighting chisora. props to wlad on the notion that he truly is trying to get the best in the ring - but everyone - including wladimir - knows that ko'ing chisora wont do much for him. however, its a better option than sitting out. wlad IS starting to get a little age on him (i mean hes still as good as hes ever been but hes what...34 or 35 now?) so its important that he stays active.

so anyone who thinks that this is a fight that seriously helps wladimirs legacy is probably just a rabid klitschko fanboy. maybe wlad will KO him and then after wlads career is over chisora goes on to become the next big thing. i guess its a slight possibility - but at that point the win couldn't be discredited.

Chisora actually IS now ranked, and would have been whether fighting Wlad or not.

He's in the new October WBO rankings, having defeated WBO #13 Sam Sexton.

so does this fight satisfy a WBO mandatory?

          No.

Chisora has been accepted by both the IBF and WBO as a voluntary defense (the IBF said last week they wouldn't sanction Toney).

The WBO doesn't have a mandatory challenger right now, Chambers was the last.

Adamek is ranked #1 and hopes to be declared mandatory soon. That's actually why he's not fighting Wlad in December - if Adamek is first declared WBO mandatory, he'll make more money, something like the $2.5 million Povetkin was going to receive.

Chisora is far better than Harrison. Chisora is a top 20 Heavyweight, Harrison isn't even in the top 40.

As for being cashed, as you put it, Chisora desperately wants the fight.

He definitely deserves the titles if he can defeat Wladimir.

ah ok, so is there any real benefit to making a voluntary defense as compared to just fighting someone that particular sanctioning body doesn't have ranked? i thought a voluntary defense would buy you some more time to fight who you want rather than get stuck with a mandatory right after.

well it's the only way you can envisage Chisora getting a win so it isn't all that far fetched. He'll be one of the better oponents Wlad will have faced in recent times (See Eddie Chambers), fitness shouldn't be a problem with him being 26 but experience wil be his downfall imo. Fair play to Del Boy for taking the shot though.

Klitschko wins in the mid rounds.
he never jumps on his oponents, he feels them out, finds their weaknesses and knocks them out.

IMO it would ruin ALOT for Wlads legacy if Chisora gets lucky..
