**btw, at the time Jones fought him Tate was much more regarded**
    Thanks for the info
Was he a stylist or an orthodox fighter?

Orthodox. A tad herky jerky, tall, a little lanky but muscular. Good pop, and good ring generalship. Aggressive...ehh, it's been a while.

The reason why people "hate" jones:

        Double standards:
He was an exceptional talent, which means he was held to a different standard to evryone else. Just like a gifted student is always exected to get at least a A in class. Defending his belts(like all champs do), wasnt enough people wanted to see Roy in big fights all the time

        Adversity:
People wanted to see Roy tested, like Ali was tested against Frazier etc. They wanted to know if he would fight or fold Over here, Eubank fought a lot of bin men wbo mandos, but he was tested in Calzaghe, Benn, Thompson I, Thompson II and Graciano. That is the reason why Eubank gets a pass. Benn was the same, he fought a lot of bin men wbc mandos but people saw what he was made of, during the McClellan and Eubank fights.

          • His resume lacks the wins over superstars that someone like Pacquiao or Hopkins has on his resume.

Its the way it is. Nunn, Toney etc all had succesfull careers as well, but people will still call them underachievers due to thier exceptional talent

Yeah, Benn and Eubank. Those guys were in such a rush to fight Jones. Especially since they proved they were the best when they stepped in the ring against Toney and handed him his ass.
