Maybe you aren't used to see Cotto back up because you haven't seen a lot of Cotto's fights the truth is that's how he boxes if you look at all his fights you see that he boxes like that for example look at the John Brown fight, Randall Bailey fight and the 9,10 and 11th round of the Mosley fight. Margarito had better conditioning and Cotto gassed now that what I thought at first but due to recent events it's not out of the realm of possibility that something else took place that night.
My take on the margo-cotto fight

Let's say the fight played out without the plaster. Cotto would have endured the 12 rounds and maybe couldve knocked Tony out. You see, the plaster took away cottos strength, therefore Tony wasn't as hurt down the stretch by his punches. it would've been a completely different fight without Tony cheating, cotto being the winner.Comment

Hmmmmm... I honestly don't think Tony was going anywhere. He took everything Cotto could dish out and was still going full steam. The fight ended in the 11th. No way another round would have finished the job, your insane to think that.Let's say the fight played out without the plaster. Cotto would have endured the 12 rounds and maybe couldve knocked Tony out. Go rewatch the fight and come back and tell me Tony was ready to go down - You wont because he wasn't.
I wont even get into the illegal inserts (not plaster) issue with you because it's been discussed in detail this whole thread and it's just old already.Comment

Totally agree with you man... You cant turn boxing into an exact science because its far from it...
The beating Tony put on Cotto was one of the more brutal beatings in the ring I EVER saw... It was both physical and mental... Cotto defintely fought the absolute wrong fight that night... Tony stalked him all night, took his best shots while dishing his own especially to the body early on and jabs/straights to the nose, but the middle of the fight Miguel was worn down physically and mentally... This was a systematic beatdown...
Shane was much more physical and aggressive with Tony... He cliched every chance he got and moved forward all night... He made Tony move back after a while and thats unheard of... Alot went on pre fight and the mental aspect had to affect Tony, but he got his ASS whipped no matter what the case was just as Michael Angel did just months earlier...Comment

Your reaching man with all of these ifs and lets just says... Cotto took the worse beating that I EVER saw in the ring that night and I don't think anything but a better game plan could have stopped it...Let's say the fight played out without the plaster. Cotto would have endured the 12 rounds and maybe couldve knocked Tony out. You see, the plaster took away cottos strength, therefore Tony wasn't as hurt down the stretch by his punches. it would've been a completely different fight without Tony cheating, cotto being the winner.Comment

And Paul never considered rematching him... I thought Paul won that fight 115-113 (7 rds to 5), great jab work for the first 6 rounds to keep Tony off of him and then Tony started to get through the jab finally after his body work started to kick in... Paul was 30 more secs from going to sleep that night, but his jab saved the night... PW took much more punishment that night though...Comment
