I don't like the catchweight at all...hence the point of this thread. If Manny beats a guy like Angulo, Martinez etc at 154 (defending his belt) then there isn't a whole lot people can say about him being a legit champ at 154.

Again non of those fights were for a title and there are no legit champs at 154. So winning a VACANT PAPER title AGAINST AN UNDESERVING OPPONENT and defending it against a top guy (I HAVE TO ADD THIS IN - HEY, I CAN HOPE RIGHT? LOOK, I KNOW THIS PART ISN'T CONFIRMED BUT DOESN'T IT MAKE THE FIRST HALF OF THE SENTENCE SOUND A LOT BETTER?) there is the next best thing.

Good point. It's better to catch a guy whose had one fight in 15 months in a new division and make the fight a catchweight.

it's just a tune up fight...better than asking a fighter 2 weights down to fight him at a catchweight.

for me i really believe that pac's max weight is 147. if he beats marg at 150 and he still can't force floyd to fight him then he should just stay at 147 and fight the next best fight available. fighting guys at 154 would just fuel the hate of peds gossipers. it's surprising though that the biggest peds rumor-mongerer in this forum is pushing for a pac-martinez or pac-williams fights.

I agree that I think the max for Manny is 147. The only thing is I use to think the max for Manny was 130 back when he was blasting guys like Hussein and Lebwaba. All I'm saying is if he shows up at 150 and looks sensational against Margarito.

This is one of those "What if" scenarios and since Manny has defined the odds, several times, It's kinda hard for me to say fighting at 154 is impossible.

cotto-berto winner @ 154 or 147. doesn't matter.

maybe the winner out of (khan-maidana winner vs bradley alexander winner). that would be good as well, unless it was khan - then the fight wouldn't happen.

martinez @ 154 is compelling as well - but he may be too big. that would be a GREAT victory.

if he wants to make a STATEMENT he would fight pwill. not even the most ******ed and delusional boxing fans could deny him at that point. won't happen though.
