catchweights are acceptabe, even a catchweight for another man's title is understandable to a certain extent as long as it's agreed upon, but fighting for a vacant jmw title at 2 lbs north of the ww limit is some old bull****.

From a guy who won't let his blood be drawn too close to a fight because it makes him queasy, it's the ultimate in hypocrisy.
I hate the day before weigh-in, but I don't reecall any catchweights when bringing Solis or Larios up the scale to even the playing field. Margarito-Pac being for a 'title' is enough of a joke as it is. At 150, it's the pits, as disgusting as making LaLonde squeeze to 168 for Leonard.

How much can we really hold it against him the 145lb catchweight & proposed 150lb catchweight vs cotto & margarito when the 24 rehydration stunt in today's era is in effect?
How do we analyze the 24 re hydration rule in historical context?
Old time fighters never had to deal with it. But in regards to pacquiao, who in 3 welterweight fights cant even make 147, how can we really criticize him when on fight night he's not even facing welterweights?
When henry armstrong fought welterweights, he fought welterweights on fight night. when pacquiao fights welterweights, he fights junior middleweights & middleweights on fight nights.
The 24 hr rehydration rule in today's era must be taken into consideration. It completely negates all the criticisms of catchweight fights.
The catchweight criticism is a inaccurate, unsubstantiated, superficial disadvantage/advantage because of the 24 rehydration rule.
UPDATED POST IN REGARDS TO PWILL VS MARTINEZ CATCH WEIGHT REQUEST:9-15-10
anybody who criticizes catchweight fights as a way to discredit a fighter are ignorant, pretentious, & ****** hacks pretending to be physicians & medical researchers with vast amounts of medical data to support the ill effects of catchweights.
In fact, almost all evidence point to catchweights or "weight drained" excuse as being flaccid placebos.
winner of martinez vs paul williams gets full credit. catchweight has absolutley ZERO effect on the outcome of the fight just like in pac vs cotto, sweet pea vs chavez, oscar vs hopkins, & almost all the other catchweight fights the cry baby b*tches want to talk about.
24 rehydration completely removes any advantages or disadvantages of catchweights.
the reason why fighters ask for them is the false sense of security or edge they THINK THEY GET from it.
catcweights = placebos.
Pernell Whitaker had a catch weight vs Chavez Sr., how come he totally dominated Chavez Sr.? How come his performance wasnt affected?
Bernard Hopkins had a catch weight vs Oscar, how come Hopkins performance wasnt affected?
You wanna know why?
because catch weight = placebos. They are nothing more than a mental advantage than a physical advantage.
Guns dont kill people, people kill people. Size & weight dont win fights, fighters win fights.
you make it seem like just because there is still the re-hydration rule that a CATCH WEIGHT TITLE FIGHT is okay, you're a bull**** fanatic man you're not even rational..
how is that okay because they can rehydrate when the rules of Boxing, rules that Manny is tampering with that have been set in place for MANY years say that a world title fight can ONLY take place under the regulated weight for the title you're fighting for, this guys is fighting for the VACANT belt at 154 in a fight where the limit is 149 and you're defending him? stop being so damn **** crazy, be an individual son don't just eat what they throw at you and conceive your own thoughts
I don't care if you name me 20 people who asked for catch weights and got it that still doesn't make it right, that still doesn't make it respectable, that still doesn't mean they should have done it, that still doesn't mean they took on the FULL risk of fighting a fighter in that weight they just pulled the strings to achieve the accolade without dealing with such a hard struggle and that is simply non-admirable nor respectable and very much against the established rules
if you can't make the FULL weight of fighting in a weight class stay the **** out of it don't try to slime your way into a fixed position to sneak the achievement under your belt KNOWING you didn't go up against a full fledged fighter in that weight
the ONLY reason why they even letting this fight happen is because his name is Manny Pacquiao not because it's right or wrong or not because anyone actually wanted to see this but ONLY because his name is Manny Pacquiao. same with Leonard and De La Hoya, these were guys who pulled strings and broke protocol all because of their names and celebrity status.
is it a coincidence that you had to use 3 of Boxing's names EVER to try and make a point? NO. they did it for them and now they doing it for Manny and I don't respect that horse ****, I like Manny but I'm not a yes man to everything he does like you are and neither for Floyd because I'd be the first to tell you I think Floyd should be fighting too
I think Floyd Mayweather should be fighting regularly even if it's a tune up or a fight against a tough contender like Judah VS Mathysse but not just wait out this case and risk his skills and ability diminishing from 1 fight to another, I would even take a free "Friday Night Fights Appreciation" fight against a guy with no chance with the proceeds going to charity I wouldn't even care if it was like that as long as he laced up the gloves at least 1 more time this year. I formulate my own thoughts and I don't make use less threads full of bull **** in NSB like you do

Here's a good example of Manny Pacquioa weight. He is really fighting as welterweight if we go back in the days of Robinson, Amstrong etc because back in the days they weigh the official weight on fightnight.
Pacquiao vs. Morales: November, 2006
Pacquiao vs. Barrera: October 2007

Pacquiao Vs. Marquez in March 2008
Pacquiao vs. Diaz: June, 2008

If Pacquiao fight the winner of Martinez vs Williams next the official weigh in must take place the day of the fight. Antonio Margarito will weigh more than 160 lbs in fight night, if that's the case Pacquiao is really fighting a super middleweight not a jr. Middleweight.
