Cotto was previously thought to be one of the pound for pound big punchers before the Marg fight. Was Cotto's power overrated? Similarly was Marg's chin overrated? (Bearing in mind for both these questions what Mosley did to Margarito)

Also, even if Margarito was using plaster in his wraps for the Cotto fight (which I probably think he was) the problem Cotto had was dealing with the relentless pressure of Margarito. I think a rematch would have a similar outcome.
I agree with you about the outcome of a rematch between the two,Cotto has problems with pressure..I don't think Cotto's power was overrated I think his level of competition was on a B level so his power was to much for those B class fighters(and mind you he was fighting at 140lb at first)but when he step it up to the A class fighters they just took his shots better...

Maybe cotto dont do what he used to do. He was known for being a good body ****er wasnt he? Does he do that now?
If he dont weaken the body now, his opponents will seem to appear to be able to take his shots better.

Cotto grinds his opponents down before knocking them out, not really a 1 punch puncher, he hasn't stopped any of his top level opponents with 1 punch.

Cotto never had power that could compare to Shane Mosley's that much is a fact. Most of Cotto's KO's are from breaking his opponent down slowly to the body etc. Mosley had many more one shot KO type knockouts.

Like someone else said, Mosley hurt Mayweather badly who I feel has never been hurt before. Slightly buzzed by Corley maybe but nothing compared to this. I think the only thing all this proves is how iron Margarito's chin is. He took incredible amount of shots flush from Mosley and like Larry Merchant I believe said during the fight "He's eating them like M&M's!"

                also remember the boxing rule

                swarmer beats boxer

                boxer beats slugger

                slugger beats swarmer

margarito the swarmer owned cotto the boxer just like he's supposed to cus boxer needs distance and timing and swarmer negates all that just like he did against cotto

a slugger owns swarmer because a swarmer does exactly what a slugger wants you to do, he comes right at you and lets you tee off on him. this is why mosley the slugger annihilated margarito

and boxer beats slugger because a slugger can't deal with distance and timing/skill as well, so Cotto the boxer beat Mosley the slugger.

                works out perfectly

Illegal wraps or not, I watch that Marg vs Cotto fight and i don't know how Marg absorbs those shots over and over again.

Even though Cotto is not a 1 punch ko guy, he still hits very hard. He was hitting Marg with everything, from round 1. So people that say it was the illegal wraps that allowed him to take this punishment don't know what they are saying because rounds 1,3,4,5,6 Cotto was clobbering Marg.

Marg has a great chin there's no doubt about that as far as Pac taking those shots, if you look at them they were shots he was expecting and could see. You can always take those shots much better. When Pac was hurt vs JMM he was hurt because he was hit with shots he couldn't see, JMM being a much better boxer and counter puncher than Cotto.

He didn't plant his feet in those two fights which takes alot of steam from them and he didn't clinch at all to stop their forward movement..

If Manny Steward can correct those deficiencies, then I like his chances alot better in both fights. I don't think he can beat Pacman, but slight adjustments to his game and he can defeat Margarito to set up a trilogy.
