I dont think anyone is suggesting that a 45+ year old fat Mercer is a good mma fighter, just that it was a shock and embarressing when he KOed Sylvia faster than the best fighter in all of MMA could take him out.

MMA fans like to pretend like Sylvia is ****, when in reality he was actually beating Antonio Nog up one sidedly before getting submitted just 2 fights before the Mercer fight, and has gone on to win 3 more times, including beating Buenetello and (ha) Pudzianowski.

he was top ten at HW in MMA at the time, thats for sure.

regardless, that doesnt mean anything along the lines of boxing vs mma. In reality, there is no boxing vs mma, or bjj vs wrestling or any of those matchups.

Its fighter vs fighter under a specific group of rules, and thats all that matters or is decided at the end.

i got 200 pounds on toney, if brock can hit randy, then james can turn his lights out at will. but like someone said before the fight goes 2 ways. either toney lands early and randys ko'd or randy successfully takes him down and submits/ground and pounds him.
