Toney, aside from being fat and shot, also doesn't have the right style for MMA striking IMO. Obviously he has good hands, but someone like Mayorga would've had a better chance due to the fact that he's arguably the biggest, strongest, hardest hitting 154lber in the world. I don't really think any boxer is a natural fit for MMA, but the 'puncher's chance' is greater if you're aggressive and can actually punch very hard.

Offensive and defensive skills are different things. Toney's offensive striking abilities are not the best in MMA. I think a boxer would be best served by blitzing their opponent instantly, Mike Tyson-style. That just isn't the way JT does things.

And the early ones, specifically with Liddell, he wasn't really mentally focused.

That's Randy's big flaw. He's got all the blueprints set up, but if he's not mentally into it, it all falls apart.
