Got this point a long time ago. I asked Reed initially Who was the best ww at the time floyd fought Baldo. Reed says he thinks the others were better and the reason is I don't care about their resume up until that point... because I have eyes and I watch fights.

Using the standard of I think both views work hand-in-hand, how you performed based on your level of competition, in 2006 at 147, Marg, Williams and Cotto IMO had not fought the level of competition to say they were better than Baldo at 147. When each eventually went up in "level of competiton" Williams (quintana), Marg (williams) both lost. Cotto had not been at 147 long enough IMO to say he was the best at the weight.

I simply disagreed with Reed on this for the exact reasons you state.

Whether Reed picks them to win is irrelevant!

What you think is irrelevant to what I think.

Margarito Cotto and Williams beat the **** out of Baldomir and Zab Judah in 06.

In 1993.. Roy Jones had not fought the competition to say he was better than James Toney.

          But he was, wasn't he.

Dibushbaby the only way I can answer that is this, did you think Baldo was going to beat Zab or Gatti? What about Quintana over Pwill? or Pwill over Marg? NO.

Who you think wins shouldn't hold as much weight as actual wins and losses IMO. I said they are all better fighters than Baldo, but were they better at 147 in 2006 when floyd fought baldo?

              Yeah..............

And let me guess what you're gonna do.

Who did they fight? Who had the better resume?

              Blah blah blah.

If Baldomir had gotten in the ring with Paul Williams in 2006, that **** would have been a wrap.

And Uh... I definitely thought Baldomir was going to beat shot gatti, and I definitely thought Williams was going to beat Margarito.

The Punisher over Margarito all day!!Didn't think Baldo could beat Jab though, but I believe Jab wouldn't beat the Punisher or Margarito either!!As a matter of fact I don't think Jab would have even beaten Quintana himself!!Make tread with poll options & find out!!Baldomir & Jab were not better than Cotto, the Punisher or Margarito,I believe that fully!!

I agree with you but your example is (respectfully) extreme because Roy is one of the greatest fighters that ever fought. His win is the exception not the rule. Like floyd beating hernandez or ali beating liston. We are not talking about that level of fighter.

we are talking about differentiating between the lineal champ who was a journeyman and better know boxers that hadn't beaten someone the level of zab, who, when they did step up incompetiton, didn't perform as they had before.

What you really need to do is to drop it.

Because my argument is opinion based.

Your resume argument does not disprove my personal opinion, that regardless of resume at the current time, that Baldomir was not a better fighter than Cotto, Margarito, or Williams.

And beating Shot Gatti and Zab Judah, sure as HELL.. is not going to persuade me to think that he was.

In 2006, if Baldomir fought Paul Williams instead of Zab Judah, I'd bet my house on Paul.

These were both huge upsets to most people so maybe you saw something others didn't. In beating Zab and Gatti, Baldo had something tangible to determine if he was the best at that time. The other guys didn't have it.
