Lopez is gonna do that and you'll keep defending him and you'll keep saying he is a great fighter. Let him get dropped by the Concepcions of the world and Caballero will dominate the Yordans (the guy who gave Guerrero all he could handle).Comment

True that he will needs a credible opponent to make that payday, or he can just get a fighter from the division willing to accept less, and then early next when Rafa is recovered from his injury still get the payday.
The fact is that Juanma can take his time as he is young to reach his payday, true that there's always a risk to get surprise buy one of these "lesser oponents". The problem here is who doesnt have time to waste and price himself out is Caballero.Comment

This is never gonna happen they will just push back the date if anything..But if it does I got JML by KO.I like Cabo but JML to strong a puncher and Cabo's defense is not that good..Comment

Ain't that the truth, brother.
We heard from Caballero. Where's Juanma????Comment

And plus like Jrec just mentioned the fact Caballero is willing to take the fight on short notice is a reason he should get paid a little better. Lopez has no other recognizable opponent to fight, no other TV date, no other excuses.Comment

Bragging about being on HBO, not even as the main event in comparison or leverage for what Caballero has vs Juanma who has had many main event already on both HBO and Showtime is not seeing it right. Once again if it was so big Cab being on the tripleheader on HBO why want to come out of it to face JuanMa??? He's not ****** a victory over Juanma will raise is value because of Juanma's popularity in the sport. For those same reason he need to lower his demands.
When you learn about risk/reward factor than you can talk about money splits and how it hold or not weight. By fighting Mtwaga, Juanma will obviously have close to a 70/30 advantage and that 65 will pretty well represent a 50/50 split with Caballero. Although there's alwasy a risk for surprises which almost happen with Mtwaga, Caballero will continue to be a high risk no reward fighter and while his demand$$ stay as high as he has them it will very difficult for him to land a big fight. You can talk all about P4P if you want to, but he is not making the money nor brings the money to the table that Juanma, Gamboa or Marquez do. And quit mentioning the HBO date, he is only there to fill the tripleheader in other word the undercard. HE IS NOT THE MAIN EVENT.How about being ranked in the top ten P4P, having a date on HBO, and being the only other available opponent to fight. It's not unreasonable for Caballero to use that as a little bit of leverage. If Lopez fights another fighter the caliber of Mtwaga then the money split argument that the Rican apologists keep whining about holds no weight at all. If Lopez takes another fight on one of Top Rank's Latin Furys off television for peanuts instead of fighting a top opponent on a major cable network and you guys are gonna defend that, then there's no way to reason with you.Last edited by prsi; 08-19-2010, 09:52 PM.Comment

Caballero is schedule to fight 1 week before the sept 18 date so this is no short notice as he will have an extra week. It's not like he was not training and need to get ready in 1 month. If he goes down on his demands he might be considered but you heard it from his own worlds. "Pay me what Rafa or Juanma was going to win and we can fight". Not even Juanma will get paid the same moeny because the fight wont generate what Marquez-Juanma would have.Comment
