OK, so, what did Cotto gain by beating Foreman? Not much in terms of name value right now (depending on what Foreman does later on), but nonetheless he impressively took a young, undefeated fighter's "0" and bagged himself a belt. With Chavez Jr., he can do the same thing in defence of that belt, plus he has name value.

The result - Cotto's resume continues to grow better all the time. As a fan of his, you should be welcoming this fight with open arms. Guys like Berto, Angulo and Martinez can come later. Cotto still has plenty to offer.
Agree... just what I was thinking

Hyped a guy that has faced the toughest opponents at 147 in the last 4 years???
You are talking about the "old Mosley" that whipped the **** out of your "Tony" Margarito while being 1 year and a couple of month older???
I will admit that Cotto should had lot to Clottey, but not because of a split decision but because he lost the fight in the last 2 rounds, you know, the "Championhip Rounds".
Glass chin?? a guy that ****** lots of rounds against, Judah, Margarito, Mosley and Pacquiao and never was has been counted out??? True that he took a knee against Margarito but that is still stained because of the plaster issue and the possibility that it was used against Cotto.
You call Glass chin a guy that gets knocked out regulary and that doesn't fit in Cotto's profile.
Giving up after a knockdown on the pacquiao fight?? Didin't you noticed the round after the knocked down??? He lost plain a simple because Pacman was better, not because he gave up, he is the P4P king after all.

The highest payable fights for Cotto are Marg rematch, Pac rematch or a fight with PBF. Pac and Marg are fighting in November and Floyd probably still thinks Puerto Rico is too far away. Guys like Berto, Williams, Martinez, Angulo are all credible fights, but neither of those guys are going to bring in Chavez money. The guy is a bigger draw than Margarito was when he fought Cotto and Cotto is the 3rd biggest draw behind Pac and Pbf. Add in the fact that its a relatively safe fight based on the amount of money he's getting. This could be on PPV, if Cotto was going to face Williams or Martinez, it'd be a much tougher fight for far less money and more than likely on HBO. If this does Cotto vs Marg it'll do 500k buys and Cotto would rake in about 5-7 million not counting the the gate.

The only reason I'm unsure if this fight is going to be on PPV is because the Pac/Marg fight is only a month before. Back to back PPV doesn't sound like that will help buys much, if that was the case I'd push it back to Jan and make it the first fight of next year on PPV. I hope they put it on HBO, but I can understand why they wouldn't there is a lot of money to be made in this fight. That being said Cotto SHOULD win this fight but it isn't going to be easy I don't think. Roach is going to train Chavez to pressure Cotto like a mad man and Steward is going to train Cotto to box his ass off. Chavez is going to have his moments, but Cotto is just the better more experienced fighter. This fight is going to test Cotto's heart again more than anything, he'll be at home with possibly the biggest guy he's ever faced. Chavez is a big guy about 6' tall and he'll weigh about 165-170 on fight night.

However, its exactly the fight Cotto needs to train him for the big guys at 154. Angulo, Margarito and Williams all have a similar style and we can all agree they are all better than Chavez. Its not the toughest fight out there, but just like PBF loves to say the fights have to make sense and this one does for both fighters. If Chavez wins he'll will INSTANTLY replace Cotto as to who is behind Manny and Floyd in terms of drawing power.

FFS already. It's a good fight! Both fighters have a lot to gain from winning.
I agree. This is a good fight to see what direction each fighter is going in. Cotto needs to see if he can still fight at a top level or at least a low A level, and Jr needs to see if he can hang with the big boys. Just maybe they will both look great, and have their own rivalry, or at least get some respect.

It's a good fight for Cotto so he can spend more time under Steward and then make a run against the big boys. Chavez jr will get a chance to prove himself and Miguel will get a solid tune up nothing wrong with that.
