Comments Thread For: Steward: Cotto vs Chavez Showdown is Very Intriguing

According to legendary trainer, Manny Steward, the fight between Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 knockouts) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KOs) will likely happen on December 4, at New York's Madison Square Garden. Steward hooked up with Cotto a few months ago and worked his corner as he won the WBA junior middleweight title from Yuri Foreman in Yankee Stadium.

Steward is trying to milk Cotto's lack of ability to beat an elite opponent and abundance of marketability all the way to the National City Bank.

hope roach does his best to train Chavez jr and Chavez better be focused , cuz if he thinks he is fighting another John duddy type level fighter , Cotto is going to make Chavez sr feel what chavez jr felt after what kosta did to sr back in the day.

Don't get it twisted. Jr. will train for this fight but only for improving cardiovascular health, reducing the chances of diabetes, etc. It has nothing to do with Cotto. Jr. doesn't even need training camp to beat Cotto.

Cotto is not shot, he's past prime. And it's not physical (Cotto was the fastest I've ever seen him against Pacquiao), it's mental.
