Cloud went to war with an overweight Glen Johnson.

Just saying a younger Hopkins would ruin Dawson like he did countless others. You must really hate Bernard, but for what reason? .

and why was it vacant?cause Dawson didn't want to fight his mandatory Cloud

I remember when they made the fight, people were complaining about why they were waiting until August to fight. This fight has been made since around January-February. Cloud-Johnson was made around 2 or 3 months ago again. Cloud just had promotional problems and switched to King, which ****ed up the last fight in April...

Also, all Dawson has is the interim WBC title, while Pascal has the full title, so it wouldn't really be a unification until after Saturday.
I don't see how any of that has to do with how Cloud and Dawson should fight next. I never said anything about Pascal if Dawson wanted to fight Pascal I had no problems with that. I'm talking about right now (after saturday) dawson and cloud need to fight for a unification (IBF & WBC).

Don't compare this version of Johnson to the 1 Dawson fought, especially in the first fight. Glen would not have started throwing the no power shots he was throwing in the second half, if he were close to that version. Johnson from the first fight would've beat Cloud clearly.
If Dawson fought this version of Johnson toe-to-toe it would have been the same ****. Dawson cant fight toe-to-toe, that's not his game and that's not a knock on dawson.

Point is any man who fights Johnson toe-to-toe it's going to be a tough fight, no matter what version of Johnson it is, dude is an animal.

No. Because he was Dawson's mandatory when Dawson had to fulfill a contractual obligation(the rematch clause with Tarver). Instead of being patient, he enforced his mandatory and got Dawson stripped.

So instead of waiting a little/taking a tune up and fighting Dawson for the title on HBO, he fought Clinton Woods for the title on ESPN and is still on the outside looking in.

Getting big fights>>>>>Titles. It was a ****** move by Cloud. It's not even really debatable.

He did fight him toe to toe in the first fight though...

Punch stats for the first fight:

                Blows: Dawson 319/802 40%; Johnson 243/683 36%.

If we compare that to Saturday, he landed and threw more shots on a fresher Johnson.

                Cloud

                246 / 682 36%

                Johnson

                254 / 883 29%

"That's a pretty aggressive bike" like Merchant said. I want to see Dawson-Cloud too, but I have no problem with Chad fighting Bute before that. And Dawson's track record of consistently fighting top 5 opposition in the division should assure anyone that doubts his willingness to fight the best out there.

He won't even take a tuneup or an easy showcase fight in between it'll be Johnson/Tarver 2x/Johnson/Pascal/Bute/Cloud or Johnson/Tarver 2x/Johnson/Pascal/Cloud. And it would've been Diaconu at the front of the list if he didn't pull out.

Exactly. It makes me laugh when people throw the 40 yr old arguments. Dawson has fought who he has needed to fight. And looked good against everyone but Johnson the first time. And even in that fight, where he fought the dumbest fight possible, he still pulled it out.

Anyone who uses the 40 year old argument is talking out of their ass. Those 40 year olds would have put a beatdown on any 20 year old at 175 not named Chad Dawson.

I rewatched and scored the first Johnson fight and did not get why people were whining about the decision. Even in some of the rounds Dawson lost, he had won the first 2-2 1/2 minutes and would get caught in the last minute. His jab, movement, and combinations were winning pretty much every round.
