man forget dawson all together if they wanna make the division worth somethin again the young lions gotta fight period like the 80 s and every other generation of fighters have these promoters are messin up the fight game with their bs
He did fight him toe to toe in the first fight though...
Punch stats for the first fight:
Blows: Dawson 319/802 40%; Johnson 243/683 36%.
If we compare that to Saturday, he landed and threw more shots on a fresher Johnson.
Cloud
246 / 682 36%
Johnson
254 / 883 29%
ok you posted punch stats I watched the fight with my own eyes he didn't fight toe-to-toe. He fought more aggressive than he normally does because he was forced too but that doesn't mean he fought toe-to-toe.
On top of that I said if Dawson fought the same way against Saturday's version of Johnson "it would have been the same ****" meaning a controversial decision or a loss depending on how you scored it and nearly getting knockdown & out.
No. Because he was Dawson's mandatory when Dawson had to fulfill a contractual obligation(the rematch clause with Tarver). Instead of being patient, he enforced his mandatory and got Dawson stripped.
So instead of waiting a little/taking a tune up and fighting Dawson for the title on HBO, he fought Clinton Woods for the title on ESPN and is still on the outside looking in.
Getting big fights>>>>>Titles. It was a ****** move by Cloud. It's not even really debatable.
lol Cloud already waited long enough what was he supposed to do? Wait another 6 months for something that may never come? That's ridiculous.
Again I can't understand how anti-unification some of you are. Dawson vs Bute is meaningless. Cloud vs Dawson is meaningful.
IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud retained his title last Saturday in St. Louis with a hard fought victory over veteran Glen Johnson. This coming Saturday, IBO/WBC-interim champion Chad Dawson goes up against full WBC champion Jean Pascal. Cloud feels Dawson will pull it out, but he doesn't see a fight taking place between the two of them.
@ Cloud not knowing that he's tailor made for Chad....made to order....offers no puzzles or riddles to figure out....somebody need to let him know!!....**** it, I'll do it!!

hey Tavoris, Chad is all wrong for you homie!!
The guy wants to fight the best fighter in the division and he gets criticized for it? unreal!

Not with Johnson throwing the pitty pat shots he started throwing in the second half.
If Cloud is gonna get credit for fighting toe to toe, Dawson should get it too. People act as if Cloud was only in the pocket and didn't use his legs at times too. The only real difference is that Cloud was able to force Johnson back a few times, other than that they both stood in front and fought shoulder to shoulder on occasion.

nah...just making fun bro .....the fight will have to happen eventually if both dudes keep winning.....but when it does happen, you know Chad gonna tax that ass right?
His point is Dawson tried to fight in the phonebooth with Johnson the first time and should have lost. Cloud looked better fighting that way. it doesn't go to say that CLoud is better, since he is not, but Dawson should fight him next instead of picking on smaller guys like Bute who have no chance at all.
Are you seriously comparing a early 2008 Glen Johnson to a mid 2010 Glen Johnson? A Johnson that was 2 years younger?
