Maybe the Castillo fight was just for the ring belt and not actually for the lineage belt. Maybe they didn't count for the lineal title due to Stevie Johnston. I would try to do my homework on it and comeback to you.

Like I said Cliff Rold would know more about this.

Larry used that site to refer to Shane-Marg fight being for the lineal title w/c i dont believe. Declaring it should absolutely have to question like Jmm and Pac at 130.

If we use Larry's link Floyd is only Lineal at 130 ( Genaro) and 147 ( Baldomir and Mosley )

where this lineal WW came from? If floyd will beat pac then he is the linear WW but now floyd is not relevant in the WW division since he is still in vacation we don't when will he fight again, maybe he will fight again in 2012,2013,2014 we don't know.

that's not how boxing experts like cliff rold count it, it is based on number of divisions that they become champs, unlike yours that counted 147 2x. In your logic, then it is a yes.

I think people place too much stock in being lineal champion. While the ABC belts are corrupt and a disgrace to the sport, the lineal title is often not worth much in factual terms because it comes down to a matter of opinion. This thread proves this; we have people saying that Floyd isn't the champion, we also have people saying that Floyd is the champion, but even they don't agree as some say he never stopped being the champion due to retirement, others saying a new lineage began with Cotto-Marg, others saying it began with Mosley-Marg. Who is right? No one and everyone, because there is no way of checking or verifying any claim, there is no person or group who can decide whether a fight is or isn't for the lineal title.

Lineal titles used to mean something. After all the ABC belts came along, it was good to trace who beat who going all the way back. The fact that you could trace from Ali to Tyson to Foreman to Lennox meant something. But that's not really how things are now.

The point of a 'lineal title' is the whole 'man who beat the man who beat the man etc.' stuff, but that's no longer the case. Unless I am overlooking something, in each division there has been at least one lineal champion who has retired or moved up in weight, thus breaking the line back to the days of one belt per division. Wlad's title goes back as far as...Wlad. Ditto for Dawson's. Martinez can trace his back to Hopkins (less than a decade). JMM will probably take his lineal championship with him into retirement.

Who some people think holds a make-believe belt that only exists in concept/theory anyway and doesn't physically exist is not really that important.

In this era of paper titles, P4P nonsense and magazine trinkets, we are all desperate for a title we can look to and say 'that's the one that really matters'. But none exists. All we can do is look at who beat who and how they beat them. None of the titles are particularly meaningful anymore, lineal included.

you dumbass dont even know what a lineal champ is. To be the lineal champion you need to beat the guy that beat the guy. etc... Pac has nothing to do with that, he only beat the guy that lost the guy at 147

Probably for the same reasons his trainer indicated. Because he Cotto never looked the same after fighting Margarito. Can you say with all honesty, at the time, that Cotto was considered a more difficult fight, than Mosley was?

yes because mosley has looked like complete **** for the last 8 years cept against margarito. as we all should know old fighters do best when they have immobile fighters in front of them and that's exactly what mosley got against margarito. cotto might have lost to margarito but overall he is still a much better fighter than mosley cause he can do a lot more than beat stationary fighters.
