    It doesn't stay with you if you go by any other definition, which is the way it should be. You have other terms to choose/pick from. No reason to keep using Lineal. If you go by:

    Was Floyd the Recognized Champ immediately after he beat JMM? NO he was not.

    Was Floyd the Ring Magazine Champ after he beat JMM? No he was not.

    Was Floyd the Undisputed Champ after he beat JMM? No

    Was Floyd the Top guy of the division after beating JMM? Nope

    That's the way I see it, you don't use the word Linear at all and there is no problem in IMO. And I'm not talking about you (because I believe you understand this) but a lot of people misuse Lineal completely, and don't know what they're talking about.
