no no, you misunderstand, if the ref. doesnt take any pt's then I dont either!! Sorry I gave that impression...my score still had taylor winning; I was just pointing out that if nady had taken the pts he SHOULD have taken, taylor would have won by a bigger margin. sorry bout that bud
on a side note, I honestly dont remember seeing him fight quite that dirty (doesnt mean he hasnt) but damn OG, nady warned him over and over and over again!!

(I'm still trying to return the karma you sent, btw)

Face it. Hopkins was looking past Taylor, decided he didn't need to work early one, and paid dearly for it.

His mistake, and nobody else's. Especially not the judges who scored the fight how they saw it. Hopkins was the one saying he was gonna work "all round every round" and did the exact opposite.

Hopkins wasn't looking past Taylor. Everything Hopkins says before the fight most of the time can't be taking serious. He will say one thing and do the opposite. Hopkins fought his fight and did it well in my opinion.

          Riz...

You have an Ali quote about the "Thrilla In Manila"....underneath a photo of the "Rumble In the Jungle".

Ahh...I thought you actually took points away or something on your card...no problemo then misunderstanding.

Hopkins always does the holding and hitting on the hips stuff, and he just roughouses other guys in general. In fact, he rough housed Antwun Echols so bad in their second fight that Echols picked him up and body slammed him out of frustration. He does it to try and get into the heads of other fighters and it often works. He even had Tito frustrated in their fight (Tito shoving his forearm under his neck on the ropes and hitting on the breaks).

I haven't seen the fight so I can't comment on what he specifically did in this particular fight. I expected him to use his normal rough stuff though. He'll push everything to the limit and will test the waters in order to win. How many warnings did Nady give Nard? I'm actually surprised that he didn't take away pts Nady is pretty strict.

No, I actually try to do it as right as I can, or theres no sense in doing it at all. If the ref. doesnt think the fouls (even the repeated ones) deserve a deduction, then I'm not gonna give one either. I get what youre saying..nard is typically a dirty fighter, but sat. night was really bad. Not just the low blows..hell, he'd grab jermain by the head with one arm and pound on the top of his head, the side of his head, etc. and Nady was standing right there! I honestly cant remember all the verbal warnings cause I lost count. I'm not going to paint jermain as innocent though; he did alot of holding too. Holding somebody doesnt kill though, while the **** nard was doing can definately do that over time!!

But the 2nd half was like the storm after the calm of the first half. Bernard clearly dominated the young man.

i also think taylor ended up the most damaged fighter ...as far as the judges being swayed by aggression its supposed to be EFFECTIVE aggresion and taylor was not that effective alot of his punches were missing and he was getting countered all night long i think it was more the crowd that persuaded the judges anything that taylor threw they would go crazy even though most of the punches were not landing he landed 19% of his punches acording to compubox .. and they did not give hopkins enough credit for the counter punching hopkins landed 29% of his punches acording to compubox . also even if taylor "dominated" the 1st. half of the fight he did not do it as convincingly as hopkins dominated the 2nd. half based on this i feel hops. should of gotten the decision ..

If you score based on aggression, I can understand having Taylor the winner.

Hopkins should have known better than to take THAT MANY rounds off in Vegas.

I agree for the most part, but there was little to nothing coming back in return. In that case, even if it wasn't effective, the guy who forces the action is the one who takes the points.

What a shame, Taylor got beat up and won, Hopkins was masterful at what he did and yet he lost, The people who dont know squat about boxing will remember Hopkins as a loser when he was really a master in this fight.
