Is it fair for a 6'3 tall man to fight a 5'6 man because they're the same weight?

So, it's only fair for the 6'3 guy to fight that 5'6 p4p king as long as they both make the weight
How good was this man-apes skills? Was he ever a #1 contender? And just because it's happened before doesn't mean it is justifiably fair 100% of the time.

If you've actually boxed in real life you would know that a height and reach advantage is huge. Just a 3 inch disadvantage can be brutal. Now I'm not saying all height and reach disparities are mismatches. But when it is a massive 9&15 inches, that's a mismatch.

Every skill is god given. The point is some require no work, others are developed over years of training. There is a difference between the two.

no the point is if pac wants to be a WW he will have to fight whoever can make that weight, height or any other attribute isnt a an excuse to duck someone. who cares if its from hard work or god given? what does that have to do with anything? if he doesnt want to fight tall guys pac should take his midget ass down to 140. thats the point.

No 5'6 fighter will choose to fight a guy that's 6'3 when there are many other viable options out there. Seriously, have you ever boxed? I would give up some weight on an opponent any day of the week if I could fight a guy 9' shorter than me.
Weight classes are there to restrict size disparity. Here this fight would bring us an unusually short guy and an unusually tall guy for the division. Making for a huge size disparity. This is a mismatch because one fighter has a clear advantage.

Please define the word mismatch, for the sake of the thread topic.

yes its fair. williams will have a height and reach advantage, but pac will have the power advantage. Id imagine pacquiao will snap williams in half like the skinny twig he is at 147.

Sure, if they both can make weight.
Now the weight might be an issue, without same day weigh-ins and with ridiculous rehydrating, but those are the rules, so yeah...

                    So.what?

Pacquiao vs. Cotto II or Margarito is the real mismatch here.

They are called weight classes, not height classes. Nobody was complaining when Corrales who 5'11 and fighting at 130, or that Callabero who is 5'11 and fighting at 122-126.

Paul Williams is just a freak of nature. You're average 6'3 man would die of starvation if he made 147-154.
