People really don't know **** about boxing, if you think Cotto has no shot. Martinez might look fast compared to guys wearing cinder blocks as shoes, (Williams, Pavlik, Cintron) but would look slower than Cotto against guys like Mosley, Judah, Malignaggi and Pacman. Aside from Pac, Cotto beat all these guys. But wait, Cotto also beat the hell out of Quintana and Foreman both are the same size as Martinez and Cotto totally smashed those guys. Where in the world do people really come up with the fact that Cottos style is bad for "movement" guys. He's wiped the floor with everyone he's ever faced and still can't get credit for being able to beat a "boxer" when he's just about crushed every one thats been put in front of him. Of course he can beat Martinez, would he demolish him no, but he could get a late stoppage or win a decision.

There isn't a person at 154 that Cotto couldn't beat. Williams IMO would be his toughest challenge because he's just a giant Marg/Pac guy. He throws punches in bunches and applies relentless pressure, however, unlike Pac he's slow as **** and is incredibly stationary. He also leans forward, has worse defense than just about anyone in boxing, and his chin isn't all that great if Martinez could put him on his ass. Cotto cuts off the ring better than Williams, has a far better jab than Williams, is faster than Williams, has better defense than Williams also has a better resume than Williams. Actually put ALL OF THE ABOVE to Williams "toughest" opponents. Marg, Williams and Pavlik everything I mentioned Cotto does far better than all three of them, with the only think he may lack less than all is power and maybe chin with the exception of Williams.

I love Sergio, but lets get off the **** riding please. The guy has skill and would be a great fight for Cotto, but the guy couldn't beat Marg. Simply watched the Hopkins fight and did the same to Pavlik and Williams was already exposed by Quintana, Sergio simply showed more flaws in the piece of garbage.

I do. Cotto eats up boxer/slick type fighters. he has a knack of slowly busting them up with his jab and body punching. He is so much better when he is the one moving forward than when he is backpedaling. IMO it would be a good I would still favor martinez slightly but won't surprised in the slightest if cotto fold's martinez with a body shot.

Cotto beat Martinez? Love Cotto, but that isn't happening. Martinez's combination punching is gonna get Cotto cut up, I see Martinez becoming the aggressor around the 4th or 5th round and then stopping him.

Cotto does tend to have alot of success against guys who move well
though so i suppose totatally counting him out is unfair.
Did he have success against Pac? Martinez like Pac is a southpaw and although Cotto did well against Quintana and Zab, Martinez is a different kind of animal just like Pac.

Now call me crazy but I think Martinez is a mix of Margarito and Pacquiao, the only guys to have placed a beating on Cotto. He has Pacs speed and stance, Margarito's height and a longer reach than Margarito....plus he has decent power and like someone else said, "he oozes machismo" and will not back down from Cotto.

This is a very bad match-up for Cotto. Martinez either a wide UD or late TKO

Cotto is one of my favorites as I love his style and attitude but I am unbiased and know how to recognize when someone has one of my fighters number. Martinez is the worse possible match up for him IMHO.

This is absurd, Sergio would lose fans from destroying this man in the fashion he would do it in. No way Cotto has even a small chance here, Sergio ****ed Paul Williams ass up & Pavlik without much trouble, Cotto would look terrible within 3 rounds in terms of his face.

Even though you have that foul **** in your sig, I agree with you on boxing most of the time.

People equate Martinez w/ Quintana or a "mover"... He's a mover, but he's also mas macho.

Martinez will lull you into a false sense of security and then turn around and be the aggressor and put it on your ass. See the Pavlik fight.. Martinez is a boxers boxer, but he can also slug it out like a real man, which is why I like him so much.

No offense to my Borikua's but Martinez would absolutely destroy Cotto with impunity and mock him while he did it.

**** would be a damn massacre.
