Really, please look up the 14th ********* Equal Protection Clause. Look up the definition of strict scrutiny. Read Korematsu where the supreme court ruled that it was CONSTITUTIONAL to detain Japanese Americans based solely on them being japanese. Strict Scrutiny- so long as a law is NARROWLY TAILORED to a COMPELLING GOVERNMENT NEED you can discriminate based on race, class, gender, creed, religion etc...Stopping people suspected of a crime is narrowly tailored, limiting illegal immigration which brings crimes and economic hardships is a compelling need. People really need to read books before they try to talk.

Work harder than you, maybe but my parents came here legally from Guyana in south America. Waited years for visas, waited years later for citizenship, and went through all the proper channels to enter this country. Illegal immigration in my opinion is cheating everybody who does things the right way. Everybody should have the same opportunities no favoritism.

The constitution guarantees rights for Citizens and legal residents. Illegals have no protection under our laws.

I agree with you .. but only to a certain point.. i agree that Illegal immagration is wrong.. if you want to stay here get your citizenship.. I totally agree.. but to go around and basically just start asking for cititzenship papers just cause you have a hunch is wrong.. Im sure there are some ignorrant as **** cops out there that wont know how to handle the situation and basically be ****s about it and profile anyway.. like i said.. if they saw me doing manual labor is that grounds for asking me for proof of citizenship?? its a ****ed up law...

I have nothing against legal immigrants, I welcome them with open arms. My situation is to move the military bases to the borders and have 24/7 surveillance by the army. It would be some good practice for the desert overseas. If you're here illegally your breaking the law that's it no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Nobody else gets passes. not Jamaicans, Haitians, Africans, Chinese nobody else gets over so stop the crying.

We should just build a big wall down south in the border.It may take
years to get it done,But its worth it.It will also bring thousands of
jobs to americans to build it.But i still dont agree with the az law tho.

I dont think people actually understand the Arizona law, they tend to get their news from the Daily Show or from their pot circles etc...Please tell me what country doesnt have laws like this? France? In France you get stopped every 10 minutes and asked for ID. How would you feel if you were that rancher last month in Arizona merely minding your own business and boom some illegal immigrant kills you because you witnessed him crossing the border while smuggling heroin........Is Cotto going to donate his money to the ranchers family? The problem with illegal immigration today is it has become such a problem it is affecting legal immigration. People who are willing to follow the rules and do things the legal way are the ones being screwed the most.

I disagree with Cotto on this topic but hey, hes a boxer, not a politician.

Need I remind you people that the Arizona law is pretty much a state version of Federal laws that are already in affect. It was just modified to allow the local authorities to enforce them instead of waiting for the Feds to come in. This law is more about the state saying the Fed isn't doing its job, which it isn't.

Im insulting you because you are talking about something being unconstitutional when things 100x more strict have been ruled constitutional. The Equal Protection Clause allows the government to discriminate based on anything if it is narrowly tailored to fit a compelling government need. For example if someone poisoned communion bread, and 50% of catholics became infected with a contagious virus, it would be legal for the government to round up all catholics and detain them. People throw around the word unconstitutional so much and its just a joke. COtto clearly doesnt view himself to be an American, he should go to Puerto Rico and try to get them to secede.

freeloada, you are 100% right. the law is so vague and it will single out LEGAL citizens that may look like illegals.

Also America wasn't founded on LEGAL immigration you dumb***. WTF do you call bringing in thousands of black ****** against their will from Africa, bringing in Chinese to carry Nitroglycerin for digging tunnels because even shaking it would make it explode killing everyone around it.

It's very convenient how Americans are all up in arms over this "illegal" immigration but you look at the history of this country and it's full of foreigners coming here and doing the **** work to make this country great and now we want to classify these people as criminals.

Cotto just moved up in my book, I'm glad as a fellow Hispanic he understands the struggles we have to go through everyday and the work and what illegals contribute to this country's economy. Illegals are a NECESSITY....

Alos I served in the military for 5 years with the 4th Brigade 101st Abn Div. I went to Iraq and Afghanistan already I'm going to college full time now. Got to take advantage of this sweet GI Bill and get a degree. I suggest you do the same.
