      He is no Ricky Hatton.

The problem I have is when folk say British society isn't racist when it quite clearly is. Its not as bad as many claim it is or want it to be; but its not good and there are serious problems about race in the UK.

Oh, and in response to your other post: I know English is a rag-tag language made up of others, but that's where it's greatness lies - the way that it has adapted to these influences and gone on to thrive.

I hate to say it but the UK seems like its not at the same level as the US when it comes to race relations and tolerance, Heck just look at the US president.

American fans are pure boxing fans. They dont bring prejudice into the boxing arena. For instance Manny is oriental yet he gets great support in america. That would never ever happen in britain. Only place manny would get support in the UK is in china town or Chinese restaurant.

That being said I know that Britian is a very divided country, There is no such thing as "British", You are either English, Scottish, Irish, Welsh, or a derogatory term for anything else. Perhaps the problem the UK faces is that they have been unable to define a national identity. For instance in the US there are Italian-Americans, ***ish-Americans, Arab-Americans, African-Americans, Latino-Americans....But are all still Americans.
Amir Khan is overrated in my opinion. His following seems too large for a fighter as unproven (and somewhat exposed) as he is. Personally I believe if he wasn't as handsome as he is (no ****) he wouldn't be as popular.

          Hey, I'm just kidding mate.

If you look at one of my previous posts where I mentioned an irish pub getting attacked by about 50 or 60 protestants for no other reason than it being Irish. There is one.

Anti-Irish racism is something that goes on very often across Scotland and Northern Ireland especially during Orange marching season and this lasts from late march until August every bloody year.

On top of that theres the organising to ban ****** dress and the building of mosques. This is attacking a community that has been trying to kick the scum out of their mosques and communities. Such a movement only serves to turn folk towards radical ideas.

Luckily I'm one of the people that prefer to fight *******s whether they are those inside my community or those without. However, the groups like the EDL are organising marches around the country targetted at the ****** community and this is out of order.

It hardly paints Britain as one of the most tolerant societies in the world. Try Chile, Bolivia and Chiapas. They are far more tolerant.

But I was born here so I'm gonna try and make this thing work. Cos it has a lot of potential.

You are doing Amir and the UK in general a great dis-services by comparing him to domestic moron John Murray; Why would Khan even consider fighting for the British or European titles when he is clearly A+ world class fighter? Makes no sense.

For all those that like to make the UK to be some kind of tolerant safe-zone, They are simply stealing the ideology of the US. The US give it your rich, Your poor and we will make them all they can be. Let be honest here admit it, South Asians (Indians/Pakistanis/****ladeshis) are treated like 1000th citizens, Ive seen it with my own eyes when I visited the UK.

To deny the UK has a massive racial/integration problem is to be either naive or duplicitous, Alot of "British" are racist towards Amir, Until the "British" prove in deeds and not cheap words alone thier tolerance and respect for all humanity. I have no reason to believe that the "British" are still a backward nation from which the US was freed.

God Bless the US, God Bless **********!

Here is a dedication I made to Amir Khan:

I am not trying to say Britain is perfect, far from it, I just don't like the idea of people, like the thread starter, who clearly have minimal understanding of the situation passing judgement.
