Pernell whitaker is the greatest defensive boxer not floyd.

Mayweather is the better all around defensive fighter and has the greater traditional defense.Whitaker had great reflexes but he was actually a greater offensive fighter than he was a defensive fighter.


Whitaker got hit alot more than Mayweather ever has.

He took more risks and stayed closer to his opponents. He also clowned around alot more than Floyd.

Floyd is one of the most focused boxers ever. Thats why his defence is insane.

Its impossible to say who is better. They fought differently and had different attitudes. That has alot to do with how much u get hit.

I'm a southpaw so I usually side with Whitaker, but he fell and took too many punches for my liking to be considered a better defensive fighter than PBF.

There was always this misconception that Whitaker offense wasn't nothing special. But, his offense was legit. He was not only defense.

His power was also underrated. He stopped Chavez a few times in his tracks. And, Chavez had a hell of a chin. But, his power got Chavez respect. And, not a lot of guys could get Chavez respect.

Even when he was passed his prime and was behind in the cards against Hurtado. Look at how he just activated his beast mode. Dude was incredible to watch. One of my favorites in the 90's.
