Mayweather is the better all around defensive fighter and has the greater traditional defense.Whitaker had great reflexes but he was actually a greater offensive fighter than he was a defensive fighter.

Whitaker got hit alot more than Mayweather ever has.

I don't know if Whitaker is greatest defensive fighter of all time. I mean he has a case. But, Locche and Pep is in that discussion as well. Those are the 3 greatest defensive fighters of all time IMO.

Should the opposition face also be a factor?

I mean if you fight better comp then you would get hit more no?

How would you define Pernell's defensive technique?

Very true, that is right... Dude fought tough comp...

And, even before Chavez like against Nelson and Ramirez. Dude was amazing to watch. I think he is the best defensive fighter of my life time. But, all time Pep and Locche are up there.

Is Jorge Paez greater than some of Mayweather's more notable wins? He hit Whitaker alot during their fight.

Whitaker was usually at his most elusive when against top competition. The likes of Chavez,Nelson,Pineda,Ramirez,Haugen and even De La Hoya to a certain extent had great difficulty in catching him clean.Haugen,Pineda and Ramirez in the rematch only made contact with Whitaker when he hit them.

It was usually against lesser competition that Whitaker got hit more.

Whats the point in dodging alone? Floyd goes to defence to offence, Pernell was great but focused almost only on D
