Whitaker threw and landed a far greater amount of punches than Floyd. For example against Santos Cardona he landed 526 punches, more punches than Mayweather throws.

Is Jorge Paez greater than some of Mayweather's more notable wins? He hit Whitaker alot during their fight.


Whitaker was usually at his most elusive when against top competition.The likes of Chavez,Nelson,Pineda,Ramirez,Haugen and even De La Hoya to a certain extent had great difficulty in catching him clean.Haugen,Pineda and Ramirez in the rematch only made contact with Whitaker when he hit them.


It was usually against lesser competition that Whitaker got hit more.

I think Paez is just as good as Augustus. And, Augustus hit Floyd a lot.

And, like you mentioned Whitaker was at his most elusive against top comp elite fighters. Greater fighters than Floyd has faced. I think that counts for something.

Their defenses are comparable, the difference there was negligable, Floyd has a clearly superior offensive arsenal than Pea had. There is the difference.
