Two completely different styles of defense. Whitaker was more in the mold of Locche, all upper body movement.

Well.....at 130-135 Floyd could punch. He was stopping fighters there.

Both guys had solid power. Floyd had really good power at 130

You've got to think, Whitaker took more risks than Floyd, that's why he got hit more. He also fought legends. Doesn't help that he was a heavy drug abuser, and he still fought at an elite level In the later half of his career.

You're right and when I think about it, Whitaker could **** with respectable power at 135. He broke Poli Diaz ribs and dropped Rafeal Pineda with a body shot at 140.

              Hands down he is.......

I grew up watching some of the greatest fighter to ever lace up gloves. SWEETPEA is hands down the greatest defender EVER!!! He was hard to hit anywhere. He had what I call BILLION dollar LEGS like JORDAN had BILLION dollar hands. LoL. There are a lot of young lads on here who only been watching boxing for 10 years and think they know everything. They think FLOYD is GOD or someone like him/her. FLOYD is a very good boxer and good defender but he hasn't had the level of competition to STAKE claim as the greatest fighter/defender ever. SWEETPEA did it against the very best of his time and in my opinion, he is a top 5 all-time great.

All fighters have weaknesses and behave a certain way in the ring. They have habits. FLOYD relies on his reflexes which are better than most he fights. But at age 33, his reflexes are finally starting to slow just enough to have some really good fights! He doesn't have the best legs and he gives you his body. He is also suceptable to a good stiff jab. He averages about 40-45 punches a round which is way below the welterweight limit. So how do you beat him? You must have a high workrate, great stamina, good lateral movement, and a good jab. MANNY would test this theory. PAUL WILLIAMS would test this theory. Sergio Martinez would test this theory. Even Miguel Cotto as well. Over the next 2 fights, you'll see who FLOYD really is. The end of his chapter has yet to be written.

When you have nothing to hit and get countered that workrate goes down.

I dont think Winky was in his prime. He was green.
