Oh okay I see what you mean. Yeah I just jumped in the middle of the convo didnt really read the first couple of responses. But I dont agree with that. I wanted to see Floyd vs. Cotto, Marg and Williams.

He should of fought Cotto right after Cotto beat Shane, he should of fought Margarito right after Marg beat Cotto, He really should of fought Shane in his come back fight. I don't want to hear about a tune up cuz Ray Leonard and Ali came after long layoff and fought tough in their first fight back. And, a lot of people that he is better than Ali and Leonard. And, he would of gotten a lot of more credit then he is getting now.

I don't care what anybody says there was no excuse for him not fighting Stevie Johnston or Cotto, Margarito, hopefully he will fight Williams.

No excuse for not fighting Stevie Johnston? By the time Mayweather moved up to 135 Johnston had already lost to Castillo so Mayweather fought Castillo instead. Johnston was already past prime by then, and he never won another title after losing to Castillo.

Nope, Cotto's end was totally indifferent, a few vague oblique and nothing else.

When Floyd "retired", his best (financial) prospect was for a rematch with Oscar Delahoya. A fight that even my economics-obsessed ass didn't care to see.

Floyd would then be expected to (try to) run the gauntlet of Cotto, Mosley, Williams, Margarito, Cintron, Berto, etc.. Whew! Who can do that?

So, Floyd "retires". Then comes back and fights a lightweight and makes $30 million. While he was out, the welterweight division worked itself out, and the top two guys who emerged? Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao. The two guys that he'd get the most "legacy bump" from beating.

Mayweather just crushed Mosley (for another $30 million) and has a giga-fight with Pacquiao on the horizon.

Mayweather's rep as a "ducker" or "runner" is gone (among reasonable boxing fans), in the wake of his dominating performance against Shane. He has reclaimed the #1 WW spot, and reclaimed the #1 pound-for-pound crown on most/many lists.
