no....... that was not going to happen. Arum picked all of Cotto's opponents. Cotto didn't care.....he let Arum and Top Rank pick.....that's why this fight never happened.

That's the one fight I wanted the most as well. Especially when Cotto was undefeated. I remember them talking to Floyd about it on ESPN during the second Oscar negotiations. I was like "One more fight, he beats Oscar in this ****ty ass redo fight and then he can take on Cotto" and poof......he retired. As a fan, I couldn't have gotten lower on Floyd at that point.

I don't care what anybody says there was no excuse for him not fighting Stevie Johnston or Cotto, Margarito, hopefully he will fight Williams.

That is like me saying IF Pac beats Floyd. Then it was OK for him not to fight Shane or Guzman. No of course is not OK, yes he beat Floyd awesome. But, he didn't face Guzman at 130 when Guzman was an elite fighter there. He didn't Shane at 147 when everybody was looking at Shane when he was the best WW. Beating Floyd does not erase that. Is great accomplishment but doesn't erase that.

Same thing for Floyd. beating Pac great accomplishment but doesn't erase that he avoided some elite fighters.

Brilliant move, yes... Great he fattened his pocket didn't try to run to gauntlet in order to keep his "0". But, any REAL boxing fan should of wanted to see him try.
I have to agree with you. Floyd has been my favorite fighter since he came out of the Olympics. I did want him to whip Cotto's ass. I'm going to be honest with you though. Maybe you will agree with me on this, I didn't think he was ready for Margarito. I felt like he'd just moved up to the welterweight class and was not physically a true welterweight. That is what I felt the retirement did for him. It allowed him to mature and grow into a welterweight's frame. I'm sure he would have easily beaten Margarito(who knows with the plaster and all.). I would have to check but I do believe he was always at least 2 pounds under the welterweight limit. Even when he fought DLH he only managed to get to 150. Cotto on the other hand would have a fun fight to watch though. Williams, I don't think any of the welterweights REALLY wants a piece of him.
