Of course they did, but that isn't the point. It wasn't Matinez's footwork that won him the fight. It was clear that Pavlik was starting to adjust to it in the 3rd and had it figured out by the 4th round. His focus was lost not from Sergio's footwork, but by not being able to see and being bothered by those cuts. Im not taking any thing away from Martinez, he won fair and square. But lets not say he won the fight on his movement because that wouldn't be accurate.

Pavlik gets frustrated too easily. He can't deal with fighters like Martinez and all that movement. He started to close the gap when Martinez started getting over his head and started to taunt him way too early.

I disagree. Pavlik had him figured but stopped throwing punches when his cuts got bad and his team couldn't stem the blood. I think it was like the 11th and he only threw like 12 punches the whole round. Nobody can win a fight against another world class opponent like that.

being flatfooted makes you a sitting duck against a fighter who uses their legs..its becoming a trend
True but we need the diversity in boxing. Plus you take two flat footed fighters and pit them against each other and that's a hell of a fight.

You still need to be crafty inside if need to be. Floyd is still one of the best inside fighters too because he knows how to hold an duse his elbows as well as throw quick uppercuts.

Martinez and Dirrell could lose to a flat footed guy. Lets see Dirrell try to beat a guy like Cloud or Johnson.

Exactly. These fools don't even know about boxing. Look at the p4p history. A lot of the top guys were "runners". And its funny because Floyd doesn't even circle the ring as much anymore.

Way to immediately bring it to Floyd-Pac trash level. Thanks

As for the actual question at hand. I don't know if it's a trend, it's just the way things go. More athletic guys who can move and box will always have an advantage.
