running is moveing and not fighting..like what judah did after baldo hurt him and what cotto did after manny busted him up..and what charlie z did after he got hit one timeComment

Of course they did, but that isn't the point. It wasn't Matinez's footwork that won him the fight. It was clear that Pavlik was starting to adjust to it in the 3rd and had it figured out by the 4th round. His focus was lost not from Sergio's footwork, but by not being able to see and being bothered by those cuts. Im not taking any thing away from Martinez, he won fair and square. But lets not say he won the fight on his movement because that wouldn't be accurate.Comment

Pavlik had figured Martinez out and was taking over the fight till the cuts got serious. It wasn't Sergio's footwork that won him the fight, but it did keep hjim in it. That said, cuts are a part of boxing and Martinez was the better man the other night. If there's a rematch I'll take Pavlik.Comment

True but we need the diversity in boxing. Plus you take two flat footed fighters and pit them against each other and that's a hell of a fight.Comment

You still need to be crafty inside if need to be. Floyd is still one of the best inside fighters too because he knows how to hold an duse his elbows as well as throw quick uppercuts.
Martinez and Dirrell could lose to a flat footed guy. Lets see Dirrell try to beat a guy like Cloud or Johnson.Comment

Exactly. These fools don't even know about boxing. Look at the p4p history. A lot of the top guys were "runners". And its funny because Floyd doesn't even circle the ring as much anymore.Comment

As for the actual question at hand. I don't know if it's a trend, it's just the way things go. More athletic guys who can move and box will always have an advantage.Comment
