I think being weight drained can cause you to be more inclined to get cut and swollen. He still lost to the better fighter though.

This is why I really thought Williams was going to stop Pavlik. I could see Pavlik taking major punishment in that fight. We might not ever know now.

I disagree totally, Martinez new exactly what he was doing. he was letting Pavlik take over and taking his foot off to preserve his energy, Pavlik didnt figure **** out he was allowed to, he got suckered in good and proper. As soon as Martinez wanted to put his foot back on the gas look what happened Pavlik fell apart in style and got shown up.

I truly believed that when watching this fight. I think Martinez was pacing himself and used that second wind to bust Pavlik up. Martinez implied that when he said "this was a 12 round fight and I had a 12 round plan".

To be honest,it is no surprise that Paul Williams team is saying for him to move up to a different weight class.They know if Kelly gets out of the MW division,there will be no debates on who fights for the belts that Martinez now holds.
Pavlik figured out Martinez until his 2nd cut,then he was screwed.I knew Martinez would be a tough fight for him-he should have tried to get someone else-I believe Paul Williams is an easier fight for Kelly,because he will stand in front of Pavlik and trade...

He got cut because he was getting punched in the face. That's why he was "screwed". Cuts are a part of boxing. Especially when they are caused by punches.
