I think that Floyd will try to stay off the ropes in this fight and keep it in the center of the ring. I think that if Floyd does feel his back against the ropes he will try to turn Shane, and give him a parting shot as he makes his way back to the center of the ring. This could frustrate Shane if he cannot find a way to effectively cut the ring off.

careful now. I heard that EXACT same argument pre-Hatton. "Tszyu couldn't hurt Hatton, how could Floyd?". Also, that Bute couldn't hurt Andrade.
Anybody can hurt anybody. Malignaggi hurt Diaz.
If Shane gets buzzed, Floyd can get him out of there. It isn't in Mayweather's current milieu to take risks, but the kid remains a good finisher.Comment

Mayweather has never fought a fighter who is as complete as Mosley. He's fought guys that are experienced, he's fought guys who are big, he's fought guys who are fast, he's fought guy who were powerful but he has never really fought a guy who has all of these things rolled into one so this fight is very interesting to me.
Mosley has been in the gyms around California for a long time, I don't think the shoulder roll will throw him off as much as it has past Mayweather opponents.
I definitely agree with IMDAZED, Mosley's jab has never been as bad as people make it out to be. His jab was always there, it was under utilized but he has a good jab. By the looks of the tiny training segments that I've seen of him leading up to the fight, the jab is looking as good as it ever has, he seems to have sharpened it up a bit.
I also agree with IMDAZED about people using the Wright, Forrest and Cotto fights as comparisons to what they think Mayweather will be able to do with Mosley. Winky and Forrest were both bigger and taller than Mosley, Cotto had the firepower to get Mosley's respect. I really don't think Mayweather has the power to get Mosley's respect, Mayweather has underrated power and has good timing to help it but Mosley's chin is superb, I don't think he's ever been hurt apart from the first Forrest fight where Forrest almost decapitated him with that uppercut.
Anyways, all this adds up to a very, very interesting fight and a very dangerous one for Mayweather. Mosley is also going into this fight with the mindset that he really has much more to gain than to lose and I'm sure Richardson will have multiple gameplans for him to utilize. I would be surprised if Mayweather makes easy work of Mosley, I'm expecting this to be the fight of Mayweather's life and I just have a feeling it's a fight he's going to lose.Comment

Shane's jab has always been horrendously underrated, it's his own fault for never putting enough muscle to it and simply just "pawing it" as you well put it DAZED. I have a gut feeling that May is gonna let his hands go for this fight more than what we have seen him in the past and I got a feeling Mosley is gonna eat a lot of right hands, I want Shane to win but I just don't think it will be easy.Comment

First off i feel that Mayweather is a very smart guy. He see the same things you guys see when breaking down this fight. Mayweather knows he has alot of haters out here and he would love nothing more than to shut them up. He says he is working harder than ever and i believe him cause he doesnt want to lose. I think he is bulking up and getting in great shape for he knows he is going to do a lotof moving in this fight. He is bulking up to surprise Shane with his power to engage close and fight. He is gettin in top shape stamina wise to move alot also. Floyd will fight one way for 5 rounds and the total opposite the next 5 rounds. This is what makes him so good, his versatility and smarts!Comment

I was watching Teddy Atlas go over the strategy for Shane Mosley & Floyd Mayweather and noticed he said (as many have on here) that Mayweather will look to counter Mosley's jab with the right. I think everyone realizes this...including Mosley himself and ****m Richardson. I suspect that they will be looking to roll off the right and counter with their own. Extremely tough to do because Floyd's counter right is so quick and punishing.
Which leads to my second point. Shane Mosley's jab isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Folks, he's been using that jab throughout a career which, at point, was a glistening 38-0. You don't become the best fighter in the world using a bad jab. Maybe no jab, but not a bad one. He used the jab extremely well against De La Hoya in 2000. He used it well against Margarito as well. Shane has always flicked it out in a pawing manner but he is capable of mixing a hard jab in there which can totally throw off your timing. It confounded Oscar repeatedly. And sometimes he'll flick out a couple jabs then turn the third into a hook. Or a crunching right. of course, Floyd doesn't fight like an Oscar or Margarito. But if Mosley can make him just a bit hesitant to throw that straight right over the top, he could slow him down just enough to land his own. Or set him up for it with one of those "flick" jabs which is really a big right in hiding.
Finally, the theory that "Mosley can be outboxed" therefore Floyd will outbox doesn't work. Floyd isn't Vernon Forrest, nor is he Winky Wright, two big, rangy men who walked Shane down and kept him at the end of their punches. And while Miguel Cotto had success boxing (in the last few rounds, I guess?), all three of those guys had the strength to keep Mosley tentative at times and on his heels at others. Can Mayweather fight that kind of fight against a full-fledged welter? He couldn't against Baldomir. And he hasn't fought a true welter since. Floyd is deservedly the favorite. But those who think this will be a walkover need to think again.
Good analysis, although I might add that Shane Mosley should be patient.Jab is not the only arsenal he's got.Watching Mayweather's fight I noticed that if he jab his jaw seem to be exposed for a moment and that is what Mosley should wait for and counter with a wide left uppercut.Mosley can handle his jab and to trade it with a heavy uppercut is a good exchange and could bring Mayweather on his all four.Comment
