That doesnt matter. Its about excitment and getting people interested.

Tyson was one if not THE biggest name in the sport ever. Probably behind Ali.

Its not about how good they are, its how much interest the division generates.

They don't have to be as fast as Manny Pacquiao. Actually, that would be almost impossible to be that quick when you weigh over 200LB's.

I said the K brothers were good, what are you talking about? There is a difference in "good" and "entertaining." They are not entertaining.

And let's not talk about Buster Douglas in this thread, why would you want to derail your own thread? Tyson's accomplishments will be remembered forever, as will his greatness. He will be celebrated and watched for generations to come, and while the Klitschko's and even Buster Douglas have made their mark on HW boxing, they will not be remembered in the same light as the Great Mike Tyson.

I watch boxing to be entertained, and for ME, that division does not provide that.

I'm pretty tired of this argument, it holds no water, as there really aren't any popular American fighters.

Floyd is the most popular, and best fighter out of the USA at the current time.

News flash for you: Most American's hate him.

I got another News flash for you: Manny Pacquiao is not from the United States, he's from a small country made up of thousands of islands known as the Philippines. He is currently the most beloved, most watched fighter in this country right now. He is a fan favorite - everybody knows who he is. I watched the fight vs Clottey at a bar, and half the place had team Pac gear on.

I went to Foot Locker the other day and he has a huge display in the middle of the store.

Nobody in the USA cares about where a fighter is from. If they're dynamic and entertaining to watch, we will watch them.

I'm an average American, so I think I speak for most average American's when I say I don't care where a person is from as long as they entertain me and give me my money's worth.

You can't get your money's worth in the HW division.

          But that's just my opinion.

It really depends on your definition of dead.

There's not too much interest in the division, especially in the U.S., but there are a few decent fights to be had.

Completely right, it pisses me off to hear people claim Americans don't like fighters that aren't American. It has no basis. Those who believe that must just go off the few asses on this site.

There's only one fight in the heavyweight division that would get casual fans watching again, and that fight will never happen. Haye may be able to renew interest, but most people are very skeptical of that and won't believe it until they see it.

It's not dead. It's alright, but not amazing. The lower divisions have more regular action going on, and collectively more exciting fighters.
