i guess its so early for roach to say that, but its his prediction. but mma now has getting more exposure compared way back, thanks to ufc. if mma would be properly promoted worldwide, then it has a future, especially not just boxers are trying to compete there. there are judos, wrestling (such as greco-romans, etc), muay thai, bjj, and other few disciplines that are trying their hands in mma.

i think if you're mma practitioner to fight a boxer in his game. there is now way an mma would win because boxing isnt just punching. footwork has a lot to do there where mma is lacking. anyway, if a boxer fight in mmas fight there is a slim chance (a punchers chance, probably) for a boxer to win because boxer has alot to learned on defending takedowns and evading armbar, choke, etc, if hes already down. ergo, no need to compare them.

regarding anderson silva not fighting roy jones. it is because silva is with contract in the ufc. and it is still a business. you wouldnt want ur prized fighter to get injury or be tainted with embarassing loss against jones, whos life is spent in boxing, when that loss of silva would earn millions to dana. same way with, mayweather. if he will fight sherk, aside from striking, what else is his defense against sherk in wrestling. why dont he just use his skills in boxing where he will earned millions and finished the fight unblemished.

anyway, just my opinion. and i believe, roach in a way has a point. if not forumers would make fun of this thread instead.

Silva already tried and lost to a nobody... BJ Penn might be alright if he did, but hes had some brutal years in the octagon and hed have to cut more weight to have a chance competing in the boxing ring, something BJ wouldnt want to do as he has already cut from alot heavier weight earlier in his career.... Nick Diaz is a *****, he should not even be mentioned on a boxing forum... Get off of his nuts

        dudes losing his mind

i agree with roy jones that its tougher for MMA guys to switch over to boxing and compete there. as a boxer when you switch over to MMA you already have an advantage in the striking game over 95% of the guys in MMA. as a MMA if you switch over to boxing you wont stand a chance in the ring, everybody will knock you out

you dont have to be really good at anything to become a UFC champion. you just gotta be solid. solid striker, solid wrestler, thats about it. go look at forrest griffin. dude has no skills whatsoever yet he became a champion. in boxing you have to be a great boxer in order to become a champ

Yes and i think boxing is the least important aspect of it so yes, Boxers have the most problems in MMA if they dont learn other things fast. I think Roach is right in saying that its harder for a boxer to become a good mma fighter than other way around. I not agree about the future of MMA though, theres much hype about MMA right now but it will not hold up for a long time. Boxing will ever last!

was wondering if you know mma.

what can a boxer do with thigh kicks, body kicks, round house etc? hows jab gonna do with push kick? it has no power but it lost the momentum of the attacker. u may counter, push kick with lateral movements but how effective is it? regarding, the bob and weave in boxing, it is prone to the knees of the muay thai practitioner. now, what if the boxer havent ko his opponent and the bjj, wrestler or judo, clinched the boxer..how would he react then?

i dont belittle boxing but dont look down at mma.

and dont use forrest griffin. forrest being a champion is fluke. he has alot of heart. and like boxing, hes win against rampage is controversial. if u watched rashad how he beat forrest..u can see how a boxer would do when taken down by an elite wrestler. forrest is winning is striking because of his footwork but when he commit mistake when rashad bait him to kick..then the rest is history. forrest lost to anderson..but anderson is known more mot as a boxer but muay thai.

i dont know if roy jones really said, what uve posted..but roy jones is already shot that he is just hyping himself to be in the limelight to cover up his numerous lost.

Yeah like it fell apart in Japan and hasn't taken a foothold anywhere other than the US, Canada and the U.K (and that's barely).

                      Give me a break.
