Bull**** Mak. Cotto threatened to walk away from the Pacquiao fight if Pacquiao didn't come up to 147 to fight for the title. He gave Manny the choice of fighting at 145 or 147 for the title, not both. A few days later he has a change of heart? You bull****ter, you.
wait, so now you're saying that Cotto was gonna walk away if it wasn't a title fight? i think you got lost somewhere in page 2 or 3 of your threadComment

There's a huge double standard here being set by Mayweather critics and Pacquiao supporters who are usually the same people.
- Pacquiao demanded that Miguel Cotto come down to 145. Fine. Cotto could have easily walked away and said no. He didn't though. Cotto agreed.
- Mayweather and Marquez agreed to 144. The contract was later and changed to 147 only after Mayweather, Marquez, Golden Boy Promotions, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission all agreed on the new contract. It doesn't matter if it was last minute or a month's notice. Like Cotto, Marquez could have said no but he agreed. Much like Cotto he decided to exploit himself for a paycheck.
The contract was accpeted by all the parties involved including the NSAC as I just mentioned. The NSAC could have refused to honor the contract becuase according to their rules a contract must be submitted 72 hours before a bout. That means they chose to honor the new contract and the new weight of 147 pound limit.
NAC 467.102 Contract between manager and unarmed combatant: General requirements; arbitration of disputes; authority of managers; assignment. (NRS 467.030)
1. The Commission may refuse to honor a contract between a manager and an unarmed combatant unless it is filed with the Commission at least 72 hours before a scheduled contest or exhibition and it complies with the requirements of this section.

Floyd Mayweather Jr... couldn't make the 144-pound limit, and had his advisors craft a revised bout agreement earlier Friday that allowed him to weigh in at 146 pounds -- with a financial penalty.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in at 146 pounds on Friday afternoon, two pounds heavier than the weight stipulated in the contract for his comeback fight against lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

you honestly don't see the difference between a fighter making someone go down 2-3 lbs. while you yourself is going up 5-12 lbs. and a fighter making someone go up 12 lbs. while you yourself don't move down at all?
seriously?Comment
